Subject: An Update on the Future of CC

Dear CC Community,

The CC Board and leadership recently met to conduct a comprehensive review of our finances and long-term sustainability. We are writing to share some important decisions regarding the future of the organization.

The Financial Reality In 2025, our operating expenses were $100,000. Due to rising costs, we project these expenses will increase to $130,000 or more beginning in 2026. While we have already taken the difficult step of reducing our donation intake by half, our baseline costs remains $100,000 per year.

After evaluating our current potential for grants and donations, we have identified a minimum annual funding gap of $50,000. At this time, we do not see a viable path to bridge this deficit. Based on our current reserves, CC has sufficient funding to remain operational only through March 2027.

Operational Changes and Timeline In light of these challenges, the Board has agreed on the following transition plan:

Donation Adjustments: Starting April 2026, CC will only accept ga***rd donations; we will no longer be able to accept box donations from Amazon.

Projected Sunset: CC will continue operations through March 2027. Unless a viable and sustainable plan emerges before then, we will begin the process of sunsetting the organization from the beginning of 2027.

A Personal Note from the Founders For the past 11 years, Veni and I have taken on significant financial and legal risks to sustain CC. While this journey has been deeply rewarding, it has also brought considerable stress. As we approach retirement age, we will not be able to take this level of risks. Between now and then, our goal is to either transition CC to a new generation of leadership or bring the organization to an orderly closure. We remain committed to serving the community and the environment as long as we can.

We are incredibly proud of everything we have accomplished together and the lifelong friendships we have formed with CC Community. We are forever grateful to everyone who trusted us and dedicated their time and energy to CC over the last decade.
