Tonight we remember one of our own, Chief Joseph "Pete" Buckel who died in the line duty on this day 21years ago. Even though Pete is sorely missed we are so thankful for the example he set for the department and the community.
We love and miss you Pete.

Rest in peace Chief.

Chief Joseph W. "Pete" Buckel was responding from his residence to a 9-1-1 call. As he was proceeding to his vehicle to begin his response he collapsed having suffered a fatal heart attack. His department responded to his aid but he could not be revived.

Chief Joseph W. "Pete" Buckel was 67 years old.

NEW GERMANY RD - BITTINGER - VEHICLE FIRE COMMERCIAL - CO90 E61 T66 2604649 - TG:TAC 2 - 21:36

Units from Bittinger and Grantsville responded ealier tonight for a commercial vehicle fire. Personnel arrived to find a brake fire and quickly extinguished the fire. Units remained on scene for a little over an hour. Maryland State Police was on scene investigating the incident.
