🚒🏈 BVFD IS ON STANDBY… AND THE RIVALRY IS ON! 🏈🚒

BVFD crews are at Blair High School tonight providing medical standby coverage as our Blair Bears take on the Elkhorn Antlers! 🐻🆚🦌

Our official job tonight is keeping everyone safe. Our unofficial job? Making sure the Bears stay at the top of the food chain. 😂🐻

A couple reminders for tonight:

💧 Stay hydrated — it’s warm out there!
🚑 If you need us, our crew is standing by.
🦌 If you see an Antler wandering around… don’t worry, the Bears know what to do.
🐻 And remember: Bears > Antlers. It’s just science.

All rivalry jokes aside, here’s to a safe, fun night of high school football for both teams, athletes, coaches, and fans!

🚒 Wednesday, September 2nd Calls for Service Recap 🚑

Wednesday kept BVFD volunteers busy with 4 calls for service, including 3 medical and 1 fire-related incident.

⏰ 1:36 PM – Rescue Call – Chest Pain
⏰ 1:47 PM – Mutual Aid to Arlington Nebraska Volunteer Fire Department – Sick Party
⏰ 3:24 PM – Fire Call – Equipment Fire
⏰ 6:00 PM – Rescue Call – Injured Person

Two calls came in just 11 minutes apart, and later in the afternoon our crews were called out for an equipment fire before finishing the day with another medical response.

Thank you to our volunteers for continuing to answer the call and to our mutual aid partners in Arlington for the continued teamwork between our departments. Whether the call is in our community or a neighboring one, we're always proud to lend a hand. 🚒🚑❤️

🚒 Extra Training Night for BVFD! 🏈🚑

Tonight, our crews squeezed in an extra training this week with the one and only Blair High School Athletic Trainer, Mr. Kwikkel!

With fall sports ramping up, Mr. Kwikkel walked our members through sports-related injuries, proper stabilization, helmet/equipment considerations, and patient care techniques we may encounter when responding to an incident on the field.

Training alongside the people we’ll be working with during an emergency makes everyone better prepared when seconds count.

A huge THANK YOU to Mr. Kwikkel for taking the time to share his knowledge with our crews — and best of luck to all of our Blair Bears athletes this fall! 🐻💜

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own. ❤️‍🩹🚒

For more than 65 years, Lloyd proudly served the Blair Volunteer Fire Department and our community—a remarkable legacy of service and dedication that will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here. 🖤🚒
