Nah… we’ve got WAY MORE than munchies at Gateway to the West! 🔥🍔

After the parade, head down to the BVFD Gateway to the West WaterFights, Beer Garden, & BBQ Competition and come hungry because we’ll be serving up food ALL DAY LONG!

🌭 Available immediately after the parade (while supplies last):

Thanks to the MidWest BBQ Association and Blair Meat Market the BBQ competition is bringing some SERIOUS flavor to downtown Blair this year! 👀🔥

🚨 May was busy — and June starts with our biggest fundraiser of the year! 🚨

Before we head into one of the most important weekends for our department, we wanted to share a quick look at what your Blair Volunteer Fire & Rescue members accomplished in May.

📊 May by the numbers:
111 total calls for service
🚑 97 medical calls
🔥 14 fire calls
⏱️ 71 hours, 45 minutes spent on emergency responses
📍 Average time on each response: 38 minutes, 47 seconds
Our busiest days were May 7th, 13th, and 14th, with 7 calls each.

These numbers represent hundreds of volunteer hours spent responding to emergencies, training, completing reports, maintaining equipment, and serving our community.

As a volunteer organization, we rely heavily on community support to keep our equipment updated, our training current, and our department ready to answer the next call.

❤️ That's why this Saturday is so important. ❤️

Our annual fundraiser—our biggest fundraising event of the year—is happening this Saturday, and every ticket purchased, donation made, and show of support helps us continue providing emergency services to Blair and the surrounding area.

Every dollar raised during our BVFD Gateway to the West WaterFights, Beer Garden, & BBQ Competition goes directly back into supporting the Blair Volunteer Fire Department and helping us continue protecting our community. ❤️

Thanks to community support and fundraising efforts, we were recently able to purchase this new Heavy Rescue Stabilization & Lifting Kit. This specialized equipment is designed to:
🚗 Lift vehicles and heavy objects
🚂 Stabilize rail or roadway incidents
🛠 Help rescue trapped patients safely
⚠️ Provide safer operations for both victims and responders

From serious vehicle accidents to complex rescue situations, this equipment gives our firefighters additional tools to save lives when seconds matter most.

When you come out to support our fundraiser on June 6th, you’re not just buying a burger or grabbing a cold drink — you’re directly helping fund life-saving equipment like this for our department and community.
