Kids of all ages are invited to a program on reptiles, "Scales & Tails," with Chewonki Outdoor Education on Wednesday, August 12 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Using live, non-releasable reptiles, this program will compare these species and discuss their adaptations. Kids will also be able to examine snake skins, turtle shells, skeletons, and other unique reptilian artifacts! We hope you can join us for the fun.

Kids and their families are invited to an Ocean Storytime at the Blue Hill Town Park tomorrow, August 6 at 10:30 a.m., hosted by BHPL and the Shaw Institute! Fisher House Board Members and Dr. Mary Freeman, from the University of Maine, will speak on commemoration in the context of liberty and the abolition movement, and the ways Jonathan Fisher viewed these topis.

One more week until the third annual Adelaide Pearson Arts Festival! Everyone is invited to join us on the library lawn on Saturday, August 8 from 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. to see a fabulous display of art from five local artists and participate in creative activities. Each artist will have a project specifically for kids to try different mediums, and our special guest will be providing an activity for all to enjoy.

Kids and their caregivers are invited to join Chef Afton from The Reader's Kitchen on Saturday, August 1 at 10:30 a.m. for a special reading of the book "Oh, Chickadee!" Chef Afton will also teach everyone how to make yogurt parfaits just like the ones in the story.

This event is free, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library, but registration is required and can be done using the library's interactive calendar.

This Saturday, July 25 at 6:00 p.m., please join us for a special talk with Maine author and Pulitzer winner Dr. Alan Taylor. Dr Taylor will be speaking about Joseph Plumb Martin, the author of the only book-length memoir of the American Revolutionary War and reflecting on Martin's experiences.
