As candidates, we tend to focus on resident services. That’s important, but it’s not everything.
The City employees are also important. In the past, I have asked several times about looking into having a clinic for employees. I used to work for a place with an employee clinic (https://bjournal.com/universal-fibers-expands-on-site-health-care). Other local businesses and the City of Bristol TN now have employee clinics. But I was told it’s not practical, not affordable, etc.
Now we’re working on it again. And we’re working to team up with the Public Schools for efficiency.
It will improve health for employees and their families. It will reduce lost time for minor illnesses and injuries. It has the potential of reducing costs for both the City and for employees, with lower co-pays for visits and lower insurance costs. And that doesn’t just help the employees, it improves services, it improves employee satisfaction and reduces turnover, and it reduces City expenses in several ways – which reduces the need to spend taxes on those things.
