Heartshare champions and empowers New York City’s most overlooked and underestimated by promoting health and well-being, creating stability, and unlocking futures. Heartshare exists to remove obstacles, build stability, and allow for greater self-belief, self-advocacy, and independence. We support two specific populations across all of New York City: children and adults with developmental disabili

ties; and children and families dealing with the trauma associated with family separation. Each population faces its own distinct set of challenges and obstacles — and we are set up accordingly to meet them with understanding, evidence-based solutions, and interconnected programming.

Participants from our Queens Day Habilitation program had a fin-tastic time at a free fishing program last week, in collaboration with Congresswoman Grace Meng and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Who’s ready for a field trip? 😎

This summer, children in Heartshare’s Cornerstone program at Surfside Gardens Houses in Coney Island explored, played, and learned through visits to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Hapik at Industry City, Catch Air, Bowl 360, Max Funland, Chuck E. Cheese, and more.

From climbing indoor rock walls and exploring nature to bouncing through obstacle courses and cheering each other on at the bowling alley, every outing gave kids the chance to stay active, try something new, and make the most of summer.

Who says you have to leave school to go on a summer adventure? 🏝️⛺️

During Camp Week and our Luau & Beach Day celebration, classrooms at the Heartshare Education Center became campsites and beach getaways, giving students opportunities to learn, play, and explore through creative, hands-on experiences.

Along the way, students practiced real-world skills like sun safety and packing for outdoor adventures, all while enjoying arts and crafts, movement, music, and of course, s’mores.

A big thank you to our incredible partners at National Grid US for volunteering not once, but twice at Heartshare’s Brooklyn Day Habilitation program this month!

From dancing at our Fourth of July celebration to some friendly competition at Game Day, your enthusiasm helped make each event unforgettable for the adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities we support.

Every milestone deserves to be celebrated. 🎓👏

Heartshare’s 2026 Level Up ceremonies honored the achievements of scholars in our American Dream Program (ADP), recognizing students as they graduated from fifth grade, eighth grade, high school, and college.

For many young people in foster care, reaching these milestones means overcoming extraordinary barriers. That’s why every Level Up represents more than a graduation—it’s a testament to what can happen when someone believes in you.

Through year-round coaching, mentorship, advocacy, and educational support, ADP scholars graduate high school at a 100% rate, and 82% persist through college.

Congratulations to the Heartshare ADP Classes of 2026! Your future is bright, and we’re honored to be part of your journey.

Our first Water Play Day of the season at the Heartshare Education Center was full of smiles, splashes, and sunshine. Students built friendships, practiced new skills, and most importantly, had the chance to simply be kids.

Because some of the best learning happens through play. ⭐️

What an inspiring evening at our third annual J.P. Morgan x Artshare Pop-Up event! 🎨

A heartfelt thanks to Heartshare champion Clay Erwin, Board Member Matt Lipsky, and our partners at J.P. Morgan for creating a space where our artists can share their work, connect with employees, and be celebrated for their talents.

At Heartshare, we believe creative expression is a fundamental part of being human. Through our Artshare program, artists with disabilities have the opportunity to develop their skills, earn income from their work, and share their unique perspectives with the community.

We’re grateful to everyone who made this evening possible and for J.P. Morgan’s continued support in helping our artists thrive.

As we mark the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we’re reminded that true inclusion goes beyond access—it means creating spaces where every person is encouraged to show up fully as themselves. Every day at Heartshare, we see that spirit in action: on stage, in the art studio, on the dance floor, in the workplace, and in countless moments of connection and confidence.

We’re still beaming from an unforgettable experience at the World Cup! ⚽✨

Thanks to Airbnb’s incredible generosity, 50 young people from Heartshare’s foster care programs had the chance to attend a FIFA World Cup 2026™ match—a once-in-a-lifetime experience they’ll never forget. We’re deeply grateful to Airbnb for investing in young people and making this opportunity possible.

A special thank you as well to New York City Council Member Rita Joseph for recommending Heartshare for this initiative and for being such a dedicated champion for our youth. Together, we’re making dreams come true!

Nothing says summer quite like a day at the ballpark! ⚾️🧢

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Serafino Family and Exp Group LLC, Heartshare participants from our Hoffmann Day Hab, Bay Ridge Day Hab, and Children’s Residence Programs enjoyed unforgettable Mets games from Exp. Group’s suite at Citi Field, complete with amazing views and fun swag.

We’re so grateful to the Serafino Family and Exp. Group LLC for making these special experiences possible and creating lasting memories for the people we support.
