What Makes Murrow Murrow?

• High-Quality Instruction:
Our dedicated and loyal staff includes seasoned educators, new educators and many alumni who have returned to Murrow to deliver high quality instruction. Whether it is in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Business, English Language Arts, Foreign Language, Music, or any of the Liberal Arts, we emphasize a student centered learning environment where students have the opportunity to take part in their own learning and prepare for college.

• Diversity in Courses:
Our programs and unique elective courses have attracted students and parents for nearly forty years. We offer a variety of courses and our screened theater, art and music programs continue to produce talented and successful graduates.

• Engaging School Community:
Here at Murrow, we offer a wide-range of extra-curricular activities for all students. We teach tolerance and acceptance, and foster a safe learning environment that helps students discover their interests as they learn to make their way in the world.

The Murrow Network joined the NYC Youth Journalism Coalition today, along with other high school papers, City Council Education Committee Chair Eric Dinowitz, and Higher Education Chair Rita Joseph, to announce a historic $280,000 Fiscal Year 2027 investment in high school journalism.

The 12 p.m. press conference on the City Hall steps kicked off “J-Day,” the third annual day of action for student journalism, with hundreds of young people and supporters in attendance.

Afterward, members of the Network sat in on the Education Committee’s oversight hearing regarding the state’s new “Portrait of a Graduate” framework. Our editor-in-training, Madison James, testified about the importance of journalism education and how it offers an effective model for schools to meet changing graduation requirements.
