📢 🚧Fall is coming!! Here are next week's road projects to keep you on your game and plan ahead. CURRENT MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS – Week of August 31, 2026

Maine St – The town is in process of a paving project from Bath Rd to Mere Point Rd. Crews are finishing new striping and cleaning other disturbed areas.

Old Bath Rd – A paving reclaim project is beginning this week. Crews have begun laying out survey markers in preparation for the work. Crews will be removing existing paving, grinding and reincorporating it into the existing base material, and then lay new pavement. This addresses long term structural issues in the road and provides a consistent pavement after the water main extension project. Lane closures and traffic delays to be expected.

Jordan Ave – Jordan Avenue Improvements from Lori Road to Bath Rd are scheduled for this fall. It includes rebuilding the road, new curbing, new sidewalk, new drainage, and a replacement of the existing stream crossing. Mobilization of crews begins after Labor Day upon receiving the new stream crossing structure. They will begin the project by replacing the stream crossing structure before installing new storm water drainage along the road. Lane closures and traffic delays to be expected. Temporary traffic signals will be used during the project with one lane of traffic always open.

Maine St Streetscape – The west side of Maine St from Town Hall Place to Pleasant Street streetscape improvement is scheduled to begin in early September and take an estimated 6 weeks. Restricted parking on this block will occur during the project. Occasional lane closures will be required later in the project.

Recreation Center – Contractors will resurface the rear and front parking lots of the Rec Center in mid-September. One lot will be closed during construction with the other lot remaining open to the public. The Rec Center will remain open during the project.

Bridge Rd – Crews are finishing minor repairs before final paving

Quarry – Crews are finishing minor repairs

Wildwood Neighborhood – The paving project for this neighborhood has been delayed a year. Town Public Works is currently patching the road in the interim. The water district intends to replace service lines in August/September in advance of next year’s paving project.

Lunt Rd – Contractors placed new base pavement this summer and will return early next summer for final surface treatment.

📢📢UPDATE and RESPONSE to some of the comments: Some of the lines are being repainted, and there are still a few more lines to add. Also crosswalks. So, while paving is done, painting is still ongoing.

The Town of Brunswick, in partnership with Maine DOT, has completed the pavement project on Maine Street from Bath Road to Mere Point Road. 🎉

🚲🚴🚴‍♀️As part of the project, new buffered bike lane markings have been added. These lanes provide additional space between motor vehicle traffic and people riding bikes, helping create a safer and more comfortable experience for everyone. Buffered bike lanes are also a proven tool for helping encourage safer vehicle speeds.

Over the fall, the Town will evaluate the new marking plan and work with Maine DOT to identify any needed adjustments before the pavement markings are refreshed next year. Thank you for your patience during construction, and please drive safely as everyone adjusts to the new roadway layout.

Music on the Mall tonight! 6:00-7:30 PM. Back Woods Road is performing. Before they take the stage, from 4:30 - 5:30 PM, Southern Maine Astronomers (SMA) will be on the Mall with telescopes on hand for the community to explore the sky! Set up your lawn chairs early to save your spot for the show and then learn all things astronomy with SMA before an evening full of live music. Thanks to Brunswick Downtown Association for all the cool things they do for us!

SCAM ALERT ⚠️⚠️ Fraudulent emails and invoices claiming to be from Town of Brunswick departments (e.g. Planning Board or Zoning Board of Appeals) are being sent to residents asking for wired payment for made-up fees. These messages are NOT legitimate. The Town of Brunswick will NEVER ask you to wire money.

Legitimate emails from us come only from addresses ending in .gov or from .com.

If you receive one of these messages, do not respond, click any links or provide any personal information. And please report it to the Brunswick Police Department at 207-725-5522 (non-emergency number). Stay vigilant and help spread the word to protect our community.

✅ELECTION UPDATE REMINDER✅For the November 3, 2026, election. Nomination papers are available for both the Town Council and the School Board for Districts 5, 7, and one At-Large, as well as a Special Election for one At-Large Town Council seat that will be for the balance of a term, which will be from January 1, 2027, until December 31, 2027.

Bowdoin College Move In – Students will be moving into the college during the week of August 24. Expect minor delays and additional traffic in the campus area.

Curtis Memorial Library – Crews will be doing sidewalk repairs the week of August 24.
