In previous years, Swain County Schools has received grant funding that allowed us to offer afterschool programming at no cost to participating families. Unfortunately, the grant that has supported this program in the past was not available for the 2026–2027 school year due to a statewide funding gap year, and districts were not able to apply for continuation funding.

As we plan for the future of our afterschool program, Swain County Schools is seeking feedback from families and community stakeholders. Your input will help us evaluate current needs, explore options for program sustainability, and guide future decisions regarding program structure and costs.

All responses are confidential and will be used solely for planning purposes. Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your thoughts and feedback.

📚🏛️ Elsie-Mae Clayton has officially presented her project at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland!

What an incredible accomplishment to reach the national stage and share her hard work with judges and students from across the country. We at Swain Middle School are so proud of her dedication, research, and commitment to excellence.

Now we wait for results on Thursday! Join us in congratulating Elsie-Mae on this outstanding achievement and wishing her the very best!

📚✏️ Swain Middle School 2026-2027 School Supply Lists Are Available!✏️📚

We know summer has just begun, but we wanted to give our families a head start on preparing for the upcoming school year!

The 2026-2027 Swain Middle School supply lists are now available. Getting supplies early can help families take advantage of summer sales and spread out back-to-school shopping over the next few months.

We hope everyone is enjoying a well deserved summer break, and we look forward to welcoming our students back for another great year at Swain Middle School!

Reminder that there will be a Meet & Greet with Dr. Brandon Sutton, Superintendent, today from 3pm until 4:30pm. It is a drop in and anyone is welcome to attend. It will be on the 2nd floor of the Swain County Schools Central Office.

Kids aged 18 and under are invited to join us for free meals at the Swain East Elementary School Cafeteria. We are offering free breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday all summer long!

🗓️ Dates: Monday, June 8th – July 24
📍 Location: Swain East Elementary School Cafeteria
⏰ Times:
Breakfast: 7:30 am – 8:30 am
Lunch: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony!
