The Boone County Sheriff's Office is responsible for a wide variety of duties, including, but not limited to full–time law enforcement services, property tax collection, election duties, and service to the Boone County Civil and Criminal Courts.

The Kentucky State Treasury’s Unclaimed Property team will be at the Boone County Administration Building on Friday, May 8, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to help residents search for unclaimed property.

Unclaimed property can include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance proceeds, utility deposits, and other funds that belong to Kentucky residents.

Staff will be available on-site to help you search the state’s database and answer questions. The process is free, quick, and secure.

What an incredible community we have!

The Indian Hill Rangers recently hosted their annual ice hockey fundraiser where they elected to support two of our own, Deputy Wilmes and Deputy Florer, who were shot in the line of duty in August of 2025. Today, we are proud to share that Chief Mike Dressell, Captain Ed Shannon, Lieutenant Brad Bird, and Tom Concannon, all members of the Board of Directors for the Indian Hill Rangers Hockey Tournament, presented checks to both deputies as a result of the overwhelming generosity shown at the event.

These brave deputies are improving but moreover it's humbling to see our community support them in such a unique way.

On behalf of Sheriff Hill, to everyone that laced up their skates, bought a raffle ticket, donated, or cheered from the stands, THANK YOU.

Sheriff Les K. Hill reports that Brenton Howland, a child abduction suspect out of Ohio, injured Sergeant Jeff Nagy after crashing into him during a high speed pursuit involving the Kenton County Police Department and the Independence Police Department.

Howland faces multiple charges in Boone County, as well as additional charges out of Kenton County and Greene County, Ohio.

Spreading smiles, one stuffed animal at a time. 🐻

Last week, deputies from our office made a special visit to Belmont Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, not to respond to a call, but simply to brighten some days. Armed with a carload of donated stuffed animals, our deputies went room to room delivering soft, cuddly companions to our beloved community elders.

The smiles and big hugs said it all. These residents have given so much to our community, it was an honor to give a little joy back.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated stuffed animals; your generosity made this possible. Community is at the heart of everything we do.

Deputy Christopher Lockhart and Deputy Michael Crittendon were sworn in this morning by Sheriff Hill as the newest members of the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Lockhart will be assigned to the Patrol Division, and Deputy Crittendon will be assigned to the Court Service Division.
