SUNY Canton Learning Commons

The Learning Commons includes Southworth Library and the Betty J. Evans Tutoring Center.

Collectively, we are committed to providing the campus community with access to resources that support academic inquiry and success. Learning Commons resources include textbook loans, faculty reserves, Anatomy & Physiology models, printed and digital handouts and worksheets, laptop and tablet loans, audiobooks and eBooks, access to a variety of research databases, and access to free software, such

as Office 365 and Grammarly. The facility also features a Silent Zone, many individual study nooks, several group study spaces, and access to Wi-Fi, printers, and scanners.

Welcome back, students!

The Learning Commons has resumed regular hours. Come by if you need a place to meet or study.

The hours are as follows:

Monday through Thursday: 7:30 am - 2:00 am
Friday: 7:30 am - 12:00 am
Saturday: 8:00 am - 12:00 am
Sunday: 8:00 am - 2:00 am

Learning Commons Updated Summer Hours

August 17th–26th
Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: Closed

Regular hours will resume August 27th.

The Learning Commons is Closed today July 3rd in Observance of Independence Day. We will reopen at 8:00 am on July 6th.

The Learning Commons is closed tomorrow July 3rd in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen Monday, July 6th, at 8 am.

The Learning Commons will have special hours for finals week. There will also be snacks available to help you make it through finals.

April 29 we will open at 7:30am and we will be open 24 hours a day until 2:00 AM May 7th

The hours will be as follows:
April 29: Open at 7:30 AM

Closes at 2:00 AM May 7th
May 7: 7:30 AM- 2:00 AM
May 8: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
May 9–10: Closed

Book Talk and Discussion Event for Graphic War
Come and discuss graphic novels with Dr. Kavaloski! She will talk briefly about her book project, then the audience will get the chance to discuss graphic devices that show intersections of war, memory, and militarized territories. Treats will be served!
