Looking good! 👏🏼👏🏼

One of my favorite things to do as Mayor is ride along with our Castle Hills Police Department. It gives you the opportunity to see policing from the officer's perspective, better understand the challenges they face every day, and build a personal connection with the men and women who serve our community.

I always encourage anyone who's interested, to sign up for a ride-along. I'm glad to see my colleague, Councilwoman Beth Daines, be the first Councilmember this year. Can't wait to see who is next!

Thank you to our officers for opening their patrol cars to our community. It's a great reminder that it helps to understand by seeing things through someone else's eyes.

The Castle Hills Police Department is reminding everyone that it only takes minutes for a parked vehicle to become deadly during the Texas summer.

Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise more than 20°F in just 10 minutes, quickly reaching over 140°F. Children and pets are especially vulnerable to heatstroke, which can cause permanent injury or become fatal in a very short amount of time.

Before you lock your vehicle:
🚗 Always check the back seat.
📱 Place your phone, purse, badge, or briefcase in the back seat as a reminder.
🔒 Keep your vehicle locked to prevent children from climbing inside.
🐾 Never leave pets in a parked vehicle—even for a quick errand.

If you see a child or pet alone in a vehicle and believe they are in distress, call 9-1-1 immediately. Acting quickly can save a life.

Together, we can help keep our community safe by staying alert and looking out for one another.

On 7/23/26 Officer Lozano was dispatched to the intersection of West Avenue and the NW Loop 410 westbound frontage road after receiving a report of a male driver asleep behind the wheel with the vehicle still in drive.

Officers quickly arrived on scene and safely removed the driver, identified as Isaac Orozco Favela, from the vehicle. During the investigation, Officer Lozano observed several indicators consistent with possible intoxication.

Mr. Orozco voluntarily agreed to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). Based on Officer Lozano’s observations and the results of the investigation, probable cause was established, and Mr. Orozco was placed under arrest on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

Every impaired driver taken off the road is another opportunity to prevent a crash, serious injury, or loss of life. We commend Officer Lozano and all responding officers for their quick response and commitment to keeping our community safe.

At the Castle Hills Police Department, we believe that the best officers are those who never stop training.

Our newest officer, Officer Smith, is currently completing field training and participating in realistic scenario-based exercises designed to prepare him for the challenges of serving our community. These scenarios help build sound decision-making, communication, teamwork, and the ability to respond confidently under pressure.

Training is something we take very seriously. The skills developed during these exercises translate directly into safer outcomes for our officers and the citizens we proudly serve. We are committed to providing our officers with the knowledge, experience, and preparation they need before responding to real-world situations.

The Castle Hills Police Department is proud to partner with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and law enforcement agencies across Texas for Operation Slowdown.

Speeding doesn’t just increase your chance of getting a ticket—it increases the risk of serious injury or death for everyone on the road. During this enforcement period, officers will be actively looking for speeding and other aggressive driving violations to help keep our community safe.

🚔 Bexar County has more than 35.6 million vehicle miles traveled every day on TxDOT-maintained roadways, making safe driving critical throughout our area.

⚠️ Across Texas in 2025:

* Over 150,000 speed-related crashes were reported.
* 1,247 people lost their lives in speeding-related crashes.
* More than 5,600 people suffered serious injuries.
* Speeding contributes to about one-third of all traffic fatalities in Texas.

While on patrol, Officer Espinoza observed a vehicle repeatedly failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, prompting him to conduct a traffic stop.

Upon making contact with the driver, Gabriel Machado, Officer Espinoza observed several indicators consistent with possible intoxication. The driver voluntarily agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Based on his observations during the investigation, Officer Espinoza developed probable cause and placed Machado under arrest for Suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated.

Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of serious crashes and fatalities on Texas roadways. Our officers remain committed to proactive enforcement to help prevent tragedies before they happen.

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate 250 years of American Independence, the Castle Hills Police Department wishes everyone a safe and memorable Fourth of July!

While you’re enjoying the fireworks, food, and festivities, please remember one simple message:

🚫 Don’t Drink and Drive.

A single bad decision can change lives forever. If your plans include alcohol, make arrangements for a designated driver, rideshare, taxi, or a safe place to stay. There is never an excuse to get behind the wheel impaired.

Did You Know?
• In 2025, 1,254 people were killed in impaired-driving crashes on Texas roads—an average of three lives lost every day because someone chose to drive while intoxicated.
• During the Fourth of July holiday period, 38% of drivers killed in fatal crashes nationwide were impaired, making Independence Day one of the deadliest holidays for drunk driving.

Our officers will be out in full force throughout the holiday weekend, actively patrolling for impaired drivers and other dangerous traffic violations. Our goal isn’t to write citations or make arrests—it’s to ensure everyone gets home safely.

This Independence Day, help us protect our community:

✅ Obey the speed limit.
✅ Stay alert and watch for pedestrians.
