🎉 It's Day 3 of Falls Prevention Awareness Week, and we're putting the spotlight on our STEPtember participants!

STEPtember is an annual step challenge that started in 2020 through the Caldwell Senior Center, encouraging people to get moving, stay active, and reduce their risk of falls.

🚨 Did you know? Falls are the #1 cause of unintentional injury death among North Carolinians age 65 and older.

While falls are common, they are not a normal part of aging. Taking steps to improve balance, stay active, review medications, and make homes safer can significantly reduce fall risk.

This Falls Prevention Awareness Week, take one step toward prevention—and encourage a loved one to do the same.

Welcome to DFA, Dementia Friendly Centralina! Dementia Friendly Centralina is a grassroots initiative led by the Centralina Area Agency on Aging and a growing network of community organizations, businesses, health care providers, caregivers and advocates. As the initiative has grown, interest in dementia-friendly practices has expanded beyond Mecklenburg County and into the broader Centralina region.

In recognition of this regional growth and shared vision, the initiative is transitioning from Dementia Friendly Charlotte-Mecklenburg to Dementia Friendly Centralina. This new identity reflects an expanding regional effort to build communities where people living with dementia and their care partners feel understood, supported and respected.
