We want your input to guide what comes next in a growing University City!

Following this summer’s approval of the Community Investment Plan, which includes an expanded University City Municipal Service District, one of our top priorities is targeted cleanup and beautification across the expanded district. Your feedback will help us determine where we should get started.

Take our quick survey to tell us which areas should be prioritized and share any specific cleanup or maintenance concerns you’d like us to know about. Your input will help shape the first visible improvements across University City!

Before his internship, Zechariah viewed University City primarily as a college community with a few restaurants and businesses. But after spending the summer meeting local business owners and exploring the area, he discovered a community with its own rich culture, history, and identity.

A History and Spanish major at UNC Charlotte, Zechariah supported UCP’s outreach efforts through a restaurant inventory project. His work took him throughout University City, where he connected directly with the people and places that make this community unique.

Zechariah hopes his contributions will have a lasting impact on the UCP website, and we know his curiosity and thoughtful approach have already made an impact on our team. Thank you for a great summer, Zechariah!

Raise your glass for International Beer Day!

Today, we’re celebrating our friends at Armored Cow Brewing Co. and there's plenty to toast. The team brought home gold at TWO major beer competitions this year, snagging gold for Raspberry Rush at both the World Beer Cup and U.S. Open Beer Championship. Their brews Met at Midnight, Hell Yeah, and HellFire Club also brought home awards.

University City Food Truck Friday from 5-9 pm is the perfect time to visit The Cow, grab a pint, and enjoy dinner or snacks from Charlotte-area food trucks. Plus, enjoy the company of neighbors, live music, and local vendors over award-winning brews.

Cheers to great beer, great company, and one incredible brewery! 🐄🍺

Kai joined UCP expecting a typical internship experience. Instead, the UNC Charlotte Data Analytics major quickly found himself building and managing databases and feeling like a true member of the team.

Kai shared that he’s proud to be a UCP intern because his work allows him to help strengthen the community where he has spent the past four years attending college. When he isn’t working with data, you might find him exploring University City’s lively and often-overlooked music scene.

Thank you, Kai, for bringing your analytical skills, enthusiasm and community pride to UCP this summer. We’re proud of the impact you’ve made!

University City keeps growing and another new business could be joining the neighborhood soon!

7 Brew Coffee has submitted plans for a new drive-thru location at 8648 JW Clay Blvd. The proposed development would include an 1,800-square-foot coffee stand with two drive-thru lanes, bringing the fast-growing chain’s wide selection of coffees, teas, smoothies, energy drinks, and more to University City.

The project is still in the planning stages, but we’re excited to see continued investment, development, and more options coming to our community!

For Marleny Contreras, this summer was about making connections, creating an impact and never being afraid to start a conversation.

The NC State University Business Administration major supported UCP’s new business prospect intake, helping strengthen our connections with businesses across University City. One of the most valuable lessons she received was to never be afraid to go up and talk to people.

“You never know how you can contribute to their life and make an impact,” she shared.

Marleny said she was proud to be a UCP intern because of our focus on creating meaningful change. We’re equally proud that she leaves the internship knowing she made a positive difference in University City. Thank you for being part of the UCP team, Marleny!
