University City Partners President & CEO Keith Stanley and Director of Economic Development and Land Planning Tiffany Jordan joined Faires Farm Charlotte community leader Myra Johnston DrPH, LCSW and Kim E. Barnes of the City of Charlotte Government for a tour and discussion of one of University City's most historic neighborhoods.
The visit highlighted both the history and future potential of Faires Farm, a community rooted in the legacy of the original Faires family farm. Conversations focused on lake restoration, environmental stewardship, neighborhood beautification, greenway connections, pedestrian safety, walkability, and opportunities to improve connectivity throughout Northeast Charlotte.
The group also discussed ongoing community-led efforts, including partnerships with TreesCharlotte, plans for native landscaping and wildflower meadows, preservation of historic community assets, and opportunities to better connect neighborhoods to future shared-use paths and greenway networks.
Faires Farm is one of many neighborhoods that help define University City's broader 63-square-mile trade area. As University City continues to grow, partnerships between residents, neighborhood leaders, local government, and community organizations will be critical to creating a more connected, accessible, and vibrant future.
University City Partners appreciates the opportunity to learn directly from residents and neighborhood leaders who are working every day to strengthen the places they call home.
