Retirement Announcement-

Today, we celebrate the retirement of an extraordinary member of our police department family, Mrs. Julie Meyer.

After years of dedicated service, we say thank you to Julie, whose commitment went far beyond the responsibilities listed in any job description. She was the steady hand behind the scenes, the friendly voice on the phone, the organized mind that kept countless moving parts together, and the dependable person everyone knew they could count on.

She consistently did more than was ever asked of her—supporting officers, assisting staff, helping members of the community, and making our department stronger every single day. Her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering work ethic have left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

While her daily presence will be greatly missed, we are excited for her as she begins this well-earned new chapter. Thank you for your years of service, your dedication, and the countless ways you made a difference.

Scam Alert-

We have been made aware of a phone scam were someone is calling and stating that they are Sgt. Raymond Ellis of the Charlotte Police Department and telling people that they are due in court today for paperwork that they signed. This impersonator also asked to meet with someone in order to verify their signature as well.

We do not call people the day of a court proceeding to tell them that they are due in court nor do we have a Sgt. Raymond Ellis that works here.

If you receive calls like this, they are very likely a scam. Do not give out any personal information and please report this to us by calling our office at 517-543-1552, calling Eaton County Central Dispatch at 517-541-0767, or by stopping in person at our office.

On 06-29-2026, Joseph Fix of Charlotte, was arraigned on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree stemming from an incident involving an individual who rented an apartment from Fix. As part of a larger investigation, we encourage anyone who has experienced inappropriate behavior with Mr. Fix to please contact Captain Scott Brooks at 517-543-1552.

His bond was set at $100,000 @ 10% cash surety.

Joseph Fix is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Training Announcement-

Tomorrow, 06-16-2026, from 6 pm to 9pm, first responders will be conducting some training at the Eaton County Fairgrounds. There will be a large amount of police and fire vehicles but this is only a training exercise.
