This , we're proud to celebrate Shepard Peterson for an outstanding summer of service at The Relatives.

As a rising senior at UNC Chapel Hill, Shepard brought commitment, professionalism, and a passion for helping others to every project she supported. Her time with us this summer left a lasting impact, and we're incredibly grateful for her contributions.

Thank you, Shepard, for spending your summer serving our mission and supporting the young people we walk alongside every day. We can't wait to see all you'll achieve in the nonprofit sector and beyond. 💙

A special thank you to First Church Charlotte and our amazing volunteers for helping us sort and organize every donation. We couldn't do this without you! 💙

"When you volunteer here, you really feel like you're making a difference,” Ted Northrup said.

For the past eight years, Ted has been giving his time to The Relatives. He began as a tutor, helping young adults with literacy and study for their GED. He now also helps them navigate Charlotte's public transportation. namely the CATS bus system, so they can commute for job opportunities and access resources across the city.

Volunteers like Ted are filling the gap. "They connect in a different way than staff can, so they create that relational space,” Executive Director Trish Hobson explained.

We are so grateful for our everyday heroes. Thank you to Spectrum News for sharing our mission and spotlighting Ted!
