As we continue celebrating National Public Works Week, we are happy to recognize two divisions whose work helps preserve the beauty, dignity, and care of our community:
Grounds Maintenance and our Cemetery Team.
Our Grounds Maintenance plays a vital role in maintaining the appearance and upkeep of City-owned properties. This team is responsible for 32 City-owned lots, providing consistent mowing, trimming, and mulching to ensure these spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike. Beyond the growing season, they also step in to support the City’s leaf collection program, demonstrating their flexibility and commitment year-round.
Equally important is the work of our Cemetery employees, whose responsibilities reflect both precision and compassion. This team maintains more than 15,000 grave sites and surrounding grounds, ensuring these spaces are treated with the utmost respect and care. They also perform the opening and closing of graves, serving families during some of life’s most difficult moments with professionalism and dignity.
Together, these divisions work diligently behind the scenes to maintain the spaces that matter most to our community.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Grounds Maintenance and Cemetery teams for their dedication, respect, and unwavering commitment to serving Kings Mountain.
