Good evening, Yellow Jacket families,
This is Dr. Bromley with your Yellow Jacket News for the week of September 20.
Starting the school day on time matters. Our doors open each morning at 8:00 a.m., giving students plenty of time to enter the building and get to class before the 8:30 a.m. tardy bell. We appreciate your help in making sure students arrive on time, get to class promptly, and are ready to learn when the day begins.
Parents and guardians, your involvement matters! Through Campus Parent in Infinite Campus, you can monitor your child’s grades, assignments, and attendance throughout the school year. We also encourage you to communicate directly with your child’s teachers if you have questions, concerns, or need help connecting your student with additional support or resources. Go to the Gaston County Schools website to get started with Campus Parent - https://www.gaston.k12.nc.us/for-parents/infinite-campus.
Jostens will be on campus during lunches on September 30, but Seniors can order graduation packages in advance by visiting https://bit.ly/BCHSGrad27. If you have any questions about graduation, please see Ms. Hinkle.
It’s Homecoming Week at Bessemer City High School! We’re excited for a great week and hope all of our students will join in on our Spirit Days. Monday is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Throwback Day, Thursday is Country versus Country Club Day, and Friday is Yellow Jacket Day. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed their best and showing their Yellow Jacket pride throughout the week. As always, school dress code still applies to all Spirit Day outfits. We’re looking forward to a fun Homecoming Week at BCHS!
On Friday, September 25, following the football game, we will immediately host an informal Homecoming Dance in the cafeteria. Dance tickets are $15 and include pizza and a drink. Students can also purchase football game tickets for just $5 during lunch this week, or purchase a Homecoming combo ticket for $20, which includes admission to both the football game and the dance. The dance will wrap up promptly at 11:30 p.m.
Next Saturday morning, September 26 from 9am - 1pm, our Student Leadership Team and Beta Club will be sponsoring a fundraising Car Wash to help raise money for this year’s Prom. The suggest donation for the car wash is $10 and all proceeds go toward the BCHS Prom.
It’s another busy week for Yellow Jacket Athletics, and it’s Homecoming Week! On Monday, soccer hosts East Gaston at home. Tuesday, cross country travels to Kings Mountain for a 4:15 p.m. meet, while volleyball hosts West Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, soccer is back at home against Cherryville at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, volleyball travels to Highland for a 6:00 p.m. match. We’ll keep the excitement going Friday night as Yellow Jacket football hosts East Gaston at 7:30 p.m. for our Homecoming game. Then on Saturday, our Pride of the Hive Marching Band takes the field for its first competition of the season! Come out this week, support our Yellow Jackets, and help us make Homecoming Week a great one!
We are looking forward to a great week, and as always, we appreciate your support.
Go Yellow Jackets!
