Emergency Services Day was a hit at the Pavilion at YMCA Park! 🚓🚒🚑
Stanly County Family YMCA campers had a chance to climb through emergency vehicles, explore equipment, and ask great questions during guided tours.

APD also led an engaging safety talk, and the campers’ excitement and enthusiasm made the entire day unforgettable.

Thank you to the YMCA for inviting us and allowing us to share this experience with such an energetic group of young learners. We’re grateful for every opportunity to connect with our community.

Parents, caregivers, first responders: this message is for all of us. Tragic incidents involving children left in hot cars can occur at any time (not just on the hottest days of summer!), and they can affect anyone.

These heartbreaking, yet preventable events often stem from distractions, changes in routine, or our busy lives. In North Carolina alone, 50 children have lost their lives due to being left in vehicles.

To help safeguard our little ones:
🚗 Place your phone, purse, or work bag in the back seat
⏰ Set a reminder to check your car
👀 Always look before you lock

☀️🍎 FREE Summer Meals To-Go for Stanly County Kids & Teens are back for Summer 2026!

Stanly County Schools is proud to partner in providing free, healthy meals for children and teens 18 years old and younger this summer. Meals will be available June 8 – July 23, 2026, with pick-up at Albemarle Middle School

✅ Families MUST register each child by June 1, 2026
✅ Meals are available at no cost

May is Safe Kids Month! Safe Kids Month is a national celebration dedicated to inspiring parents to take simple steps that help keep their kids safe as they get ready for summer. Preventable injuries are the number one cause of death among children ages 1-19 in the U.S., and millions more are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime.

Throughout the month, experts from our nearly 400 Safe Kids coalitions across the country will work directly with children, families, and caregivers in their communities to provide tips, information, and safety devices.
