Good evening Cavalier Families. This is Dr. McKay with this week’s important information.

Thanks for a great first week of school. Your students did a great job getting started.

Please remind your children that phones, earbuds, and wireless headphones must be turned off and stored in their bookbag as soon as they enter the building until they leave the building at dismissal. If your child needs to communicate with you during the day, we will help them make a call from the school phone.

Yearbooks are on sale at their cheapest price of the year! You may visit Jostens.com and choose W. C. Friday as your school to order now!

Athletics this week include Football @ Grier on Wednesday, 8/19 and Home softball vs. Mt. Holly on Thursday, 8/20. Prices increased this year and the cost is $7 per person! Students who wish to stay for the games must have a ride pre-arranged.

Good evening Cavalier Families. This is Dr. McKay with this week’s important information.

We were glad to see so many of you at Friday’s orientation and open house events. Even if you didn’t get a chance to come out, your child’s schedule is updated in Infinite Campus so that you can see their teachers for the year. I assure you that students will receive plenty of help getting to their first class of the day on Wednesday!

Families who have signed up for a bus this year will receive a call from your bus driver prior to the first day of school. They can let you know the route color, pick up time, and location.

Please clearly communicate with your child about how they will get home on the first day of school. If your child is a car rider, please let them know which lot you’ll be in. If you need to turn left when you leave the school, please use the lower lot by the ball fields. If you need to turn right when you leave the school, please use the upper lot by the marquee.

Our doors open at 7:45 each morning and the school day lasts from 8:30-3:30. We are looking forward to a successful year with your child. See you all on Wednesday!

We are incredibly honored to share that the W.C. Friday Middle School Band program has been recognized as a 2025-2026 Program of Distinction!
This prestigious honor celebrates programs that demonstrate exceptional musical excellence, artistry, and leadership within their community. This award was given to only 40 middle schools in North Carolina.
Congratulations to Band Director, Mrs. Cindy Owens, and the WCF Cavalier Band on this outstanding accomplishment! And thank you to everyone who supports our band program!
