Our book club is back! Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 10th @ 11 AM at the Cherokee Public Library. We will be discussing Out of the Night That Covers Me by Pat Cunningham Devoto. Book club copies are available to borrow from the Cherokee Public Library. No registration is required, but book copies are limited. Last call for anyone interested in participating in our upcoming Mahjong instruction session! The session will be held this Wednesday, August 12 at 12 noon at the Cherokee Public Library (118 Church Street). Price to participate is $25 per person (payable by cash or check, no cards) and must be pre-paid to count you as registered. We only have a few spots left, so call or come by today to secure your spot!

Also, for those interested, 2026 cards will be available at the session for $15 each. Cards are not required to learn to play, but will be beneficial if you want to play more later on.

More information for those interested in learning to play Mahjong! The Cherokee Public Library will be hosting an instruction session on Wednesday, August 12th at 12 noon for those interested in learning to play Mahjong. The session does not have a set end time but expect to be here at least a couple of hours. The cost to participate in the session is $25, payable by cash or check. Registration fee MUST be prepaid in order to hold your spot.

Also, for those interested, 2026 cards will be available at the session for $15 each. Cards are not required to learn to play, but will be beneficial if you want to play more later on.

Space is very limited, so please contact the Cherokee Public Library by phone (256-359-4384) or email ([email protected]) to express interest. Come in to the library during regular business hours in order to pay your registration fee and be added to the confirmation list.

Interested in learning to play Mahjong? The Cherokee Public Library is currently gauging local interest in a Mahjong program. This program would be hosted at the Cherokee Public Library (118 Church St.) and patrons would need to pay for instruction. We do not currently have any other information such as a price estimate or time/date the program would take place. Please contact the library if you might be interested in this program so we can know whether this is something that is sought after in our area and contact you when further details become available. We are giving out cash prizes this year and will have winners in High School, Junior High, and Elementary categories.
