Queen Anne’s County Launches QAC 250 Committee to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary
Queen Anne’s County is proud to join communities across the nation celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. In coordination with the Maryland 250 Commission, the County has established the QAC 250 Committee to help plan, promote, and coordinate local events and activities commemorating this historic milestone.
The mission of the QAC 250 Committee is to bring together community partners to collaboratively plan events that honor the nation’s founding while highlighting the unique history and heritage of Queen Anne’s County. The group will also work to centralize communications and maximize community participation in anniversary events.
The QAC 250 Commission includes representatives from a wide range of local organizations and partners, including:

The initiative is led by the Queen Anne’s County Department of Economic and Tourism Development, under the coordination of Heritage Tourism Coordinator Penny Young-Carrasquillo.
“America’s 250th Anniversary is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our nation’s founding and the role communities like Queen Anne’s County played in shaping that history,” said Commission President Jim Moran. “From our historic sites to the stories of those who lived and worked here, this celebration allows us to honor our past while bringing our community together for the future.”
A variety of events are already being planned to celebrate the anniversary and engage residents and visitors. Activities throughout the year will highlight the County’s history and traditions, with opportunities for the community to come together in celebration. From exhibits and historical programs to signature community events and commemorations, there will be something for all ages to enjoy, with additional events continuing to be announced as planning progresses.
