Last week, our QAC Economic Development & Tourism team had the opportunity to celebrate both National Travel & Tourism Week and Small Business Week by visiting 35 of the incredible tourism-related small businesses that help make Queen Anne’s County such a special place to live, work, and visit.

From local shops and attractions to experiences on the water, we were proud to thank the people whose passion and hard work support our local economy and showcase the best of our community every day.

One of the highlights of the week was getting out on the water to experience the planting of baby oysters — a reminder that tourism, environmental stewardship, and our waterfront heritage all go hand in hand here in QAC. Supporting our waterways today helps preserve the experiences, industries, and natural beauty that visitors and residents enjoy for generations to come.

Thank you to all of our small businesses, tourism partners, and watermen for everything you do for Queen Anne’s County! 💙🦪

Queen Anne’s County Launches QAC 250 Committee to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary

Queen Anne’s County is proud to join communities across the nation celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. In coordination with the Maryland 250 Commission, the County has established the QAC 250 Committee to help plan, promote, and coordinate local events and activities commemorating this historic milestone.

The mission of the QAC 250 Committee is to bring together community partners to collaboratively plan events that honor the nation’s founding while highlighting the unique history and heritage of Queen Anne’s County. The group will also work to centralize communications and maximize community participation in anniversary events.

The QAC 250 Commission includes representatives from a wide range of local organizations and partners, including:

• Queen Anne’s County Government
• Centreville MD250 Committee
• CChesapeake Manor Vineyard• CCult Classic Brewing Company• Economic Development Commission
• HHistoric Stevensville• KKennard African American Cultural Heritage Center• KKent Island Heritage Society• KKent Narrows Waterfront

• TThe Queen Anne's County Historical Society• QQueen Anne's County Legacy Foundation• QQueen Anne's County Library• Sudlersville Betterment Club & SSudlersville Train Station Museum• CCol. Tench Tilghman Chapter MD SAR
• TTown of Queenstown
The initiative is led by the Queen Anne’s County Department of Economic and Tourism Development, under the coordination of Heritage Tourism Coordinator Penny Young-Carrasquillo.

“America’s 250th Anniversary is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our nation’s founding and the role communities like Queen Anne’s County played in shaping that history,” said Commission President Jim Moran. “From our historic sites to the stories of those who lived and worked here, this celebration allows us to honor our past while bringing our community together for the future.”

A variety of events are already being planned to celebrate the anniversary and engage residents and visitors. Activities throughout the year will highlight the County’s history and traditions, with opportunities for the community to come together in celebration. From exhibits and historical programs to signature community events and commemorations, there will be something for all ages to enjoy, with additional events continuing to be announced as planning progresses.

Residents are encouraged to follow and on social media for updates and event announcements. Additional information, including a full calendar of events, can be found at: https://visitqueenannes.com/md250/ and

As planning continues, the QAC 250 Committeee invites community members, organizations, and businesses to participate in this once-in-a-generation celebration of America’s history and Queen Anne’s County’s role within it.
