Rooted in Cheyenne Cheyenne's tree planting program: helping to support a more diverse and resilient urban canopy

Cheyenne is experiencing a high mortality rate in its street tree population as the result of an aging forest and past extreme weather events. In addition, citizens are not adequately replacing dead trees which results in large gaps in the tree canopy. With the threat of Emerald Ash Borer and the likely loss of thousands of ash trees once it arrives, Cheyenne’s forest canopy is in serious jeopardy

. The need for a community tree planting program in Cheyenne is critical to maintain our forest canopy where trees are likely to die or have died and extend our forest canopy where trees are less abundant.

Breakfast - Thank you to for always being on top of the need for caffeine at 7:00am on a Saturday. Also, the breakfast burritos are phenomenal and so very appreciated!
Lunch - GFWC Women's Civic League of Cheyenne has provided a hot lunch for us since the fall of 2024! Our partnership has bloomed into so much more than just that and we are so happy to call the wonderful ladies at the Women's Civic League of Cheyenne, friends. Thank you so very much for the lunches and the amazing service each one of you provide to us.
T-shirts - Our planting t-shirts have become more than just a shirt, they are bragging rights, a symbol of community support, and highly sought after. A huge thank you to Trophy Creative for creating a long-lasting memory for each of our volunteers!

It's that time of year again to get started with health checks. Join us this Saturday for the 2026 Tree Sewards Kickoff. We'll split into groups and perform health checks, review basics, and build the knowledge needed to empower homeowners. We'll get back together at the park for food, drinks, and rewards for those who have racked up incentive points!
