You’re invited to take a brief 10–15 minute survey as part of a statewide effort through the Governor’s Council on Substance Abuse Prevention Subcommittee.

This is part of an asset mapping project to identify youth-serving, youth-engaged, and youth-led groups across WV, better understand their focus areas, and highlight how they contribute to prevention efforts. The information will also help identify opportunities for collaboration, training, and support.

Who should participate:

Anyone involved in or knowledgeable about a youth-serving, youth-engaged, or youth-led group, coalition, or initiative in West Virginia.

On Wednesday at the Share the Vision Conference 2026, Jonnie Kifer, Community Programs Manager, and Elizabeth Shahan, Executive Director, presented “Communities at a Crossroads: Rethinking Alcohol Access in WV.”

Their session explored how communities can better understand and address alcohol access through environmental scans, alcohol outlet density analysis, community mapping strategies, and policy change efforts that support healthier environments.

By using data-driven tools and collaborative strategies, they highlighted how communities across West Virginia can take meaningful steps toward reducing risk and strengthening prevention efforts.

👏 Thank you to everyone who attended and engaged in this important conversation about shaping healthier communities!
