Claymont Community Center Meeting the changing needs of our community since 1975. Serving Claymont, Wilmington, and the surrounding areas.

Founded by a group of community leaders in 1974 with a goal to meet youth and family needs in Claymont. Over the years, the scope of services has expanded to include the broader concept of community, serving the physical, emotional, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of local residents. We are pleased to serve residents from Claymont as well as Wilmington and the surrounding areas in Ne

w Castle County, Delaware. Claymont Community Center operates out of the former Claymont High School. The Center serves more than 5,000 clients annually, and with our community partners, who share our facility, we have more than 60,000 visits each year. Our primary programs include:

- Food Closet
- Learning Center (GED, ABE, ESL)
- Senior Center
- Empowered Youth

We are also home to a variety of other agencies that provide services to our community across the lifespan.

A special episode of Pathways to Service!

Pathways to Service, a Rotary podcast co-hosted by Claymont Community Center CEO Allison David, looks a little different this episode. Instead of asking the questions, Allison is in the interview seat!

Listen in as she shares the remarkable history of the building that is now home to the Claymont Community Center and its important connection to Brown v. Board of Education. She discusses what happened here more than 70 years ago, why this history still matters, and how that legacy of inclusion continues to shape the Center’s work today.

Allison will also talk about our upcoming September 4th event, when we’ll gather to celebrate our recognition as an affiliate of the National Park Service, an important chapter in our community’s history.

This week’s Collaboration Corner highlights LEEP’s Pathways to Apprenticeship!

We were proud to host this recent cohort as they completed the Pathways to Apprenticeship program and prepared to take their next steps toward careers in the building trades.

Workforce development is an important part of building strong, thriving communities. Programs like Pathways to Apprenticeship help connect people with the skills, training, and opportunities they need to pursue meaningful careers and we’re glad Claymont Community Center could provide a space for this important work.

Congratulations to all of the graduates! We’re proud to celebrate your accomplishment and excited to see where your next steps take you.
