The Officers and Members of the Claymont Fire Company would like to congratulate Probationary Firefighter Delgado on successfully completing the Delaware State Fire School one-month Accelerated Academy.

During the academy, FF Delgado earned certifications in Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Vehicle Rescue Technician, and ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800.

FF Delgado continues to train, learn, and progress while also managing his staffing hours at Station 13.

Engine 13-5 and Rescue 13 operated on a house fire early Friday morning. Engine 13-5, arriving as the second-due engine, stretched a 300’ disconnect to the second floor, where crews knocked down fire and gained access to the attic. Rescue 13 arrived as the third-due special service, fulfilling the RIT assignment, throwing ground ladders and softening the building.

Last Thursday, Tower 13 with 6 and Assistant 13 assisted Five Points Fire Company on a four alarm fire in a row home. Tower 13 was split by command, sending the outside team to the roof to work 4 units of fire while the inside team was sent to basement of the main fire building with Christiana Fire Company Engine 12. Crews made a push on the Charlie side, locating fire in the basement of both the fire building and the delta 1 exposure. Assistant 13 was assigned as the delta 2 exposure supervisor.

Engine 13-5 and Tower 13 held the second engine and first special on a Talleyville Fire Company lab fire last week. Crews located a fire on the second floor being held to the hood system by the sprinklers. While 13-5 put a knock on the fire, Tower 13 completed primaries in the fire room and opened up for the engine companies.

Last Thursday Engine 13-2 and Tower 13 assisted Monroe Energy on an industrial fire inside the plant. 13-2 assisted with fire attack along side Monroe fire brigade Engine 86. Tower 13 provided manpower to the units operating.
