Greetings,
The expanded DORA begins this Friday. I’d like to send out what you need to know.

There are four items I’d like to highlight.
1. DORA is Friday, Saturday, Sunday 1p-9p and Special events
2. Stay within the DORA zone, don’t take DORA cups into parking lots
3. Deviation from the first two items may be considered Open Container.

Here are the details
AMHERST DESIGNATED OUTDOOR REFRESHMENT AREA (DORA)
DORA Hours - Friday, Saturday & Sunday - 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The Amherst Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) allows patrons 21 years of age and older to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating D5 liquor permit establishments and enjoy them within the designated DORA boundaries.

What You Need to Know
• You must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages within the DORA.
• All DORA beverages must be purchased from a participating D5 establishment. Outside alcohol (BYOB) is not permitted.
• Participating D5 establishments no longer charge the $1 DORA cup fee.
• Patrons may enjoy their DORA beverage inside the participating D5 establishment where it was purchased, take it with them throughout the designated DORA, and return with it to that same establishment.
• You may leave the establishment with your DORA beverage and enjoy it anywhere within the designated DORA boundaries.
• DORA beverages may be taken into participating non-D5 retail businesses that display a DORA participation decal or other signage indicating they welcome DORA beverages.
• If you are unsure whether a business participates, please ask before entering.
• Each participating D5 establishment is required to identify every DORA cup with its business name.
• Last call for DORA beverage sales is 8:30 p.m.
• DORA cups are single-use only and cannot be refilled due to health regulations.
• Please dispose of your cup responsibly when finished.

What You Can't Do
• Do not take a DORA cup from one participating D5 establishment into another participating D5 establishment.
• Do not take a DORA cup outside the designated DORA boundaries. Once outside the DORA, it becomes an open container violation.
• Do not possess or consume a DORA beverage after 9:00 p.m. Any DORA cup in your possession after that time is considered an open container.
• Do not bring a DORA cup into a business that is not participating in the DORA program.
• Do not take DORA beverages into parking lots.
• Do not carry or consume an open DORA beverage while operating or riding a motorized scooter.
• Do not refill a DORA cup.

Participating Businesses
• Participating D5 Establishments (Restaurants & Bars): You may purchase a DORA beverage, enjoy it inside the establishment where it was purchased, leave with your beverage and walk anywhere within the DORA, and return to that same establishment. You may not take your DORA beverage into another participating D5 establishment.
• Participating Non-D5 Businesses (Retail Shops): Retail businesses may choose whether to allow DORA beverages inside. Look for the official DORA window decal or other posted signage before entering. If no signage is displayed, please ask an employee before entering with your beverage.

Open Container Violations
• Violating DORA rules—including taking a beverage outside the DORA boundaries or possessing a DORA cup after 9:00 p.m.—may result in an open container citation and a $150 fine.

Greetings,
I am hearing from residents who are having issues with the fiber company currently building to provide internet service to our community. The company is Lumos, which merged with T-Mobile in late 2025. They visited the city council in May of 2025 and committed to 24 hour resonse and a three-day resolution in most cases. Below is information to contact them if you experience an issue.
