Mental health recovery is a personal journey of healing and transformation. Future Directions COS is a consumer operated program that uses a non-profit craft group to introduce mental health consumers into a social and work environment. This service is available, without charge, to anyone who is 18 years or older and is currently utilizing mental health services in Cuyahoga County. Participation i

n the work group includes making raw materials into sellable items. These craft projects help teach patience while improving motor skills. The group also enhances basic work and social skills while interacting with fellow peers. Self-confidence is built while members help each other with project ideas using art and woodworking tools. By selling finished projects at area craft fairs, social phobias and prejudice can be lessened while interacting with the public.
