Celebrating another improvement along Rocky River Drive thanks to our partnership with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress!

One component of CNP's Middle Neighborhood Initiative is the Clean & Green Campaign which sets aside dollars for public realm and neighborhood beautification projects.

During a community meeting in 2024, parishioners from St. Patrick's Parish West Park expressed a desire to replace the degraded perimeter fence around the historic cemetery on their campus, though they needed assistance with securing funding for the project. While at the time no suitable grant program was available, WPKND recalled those conversations a year later when CNP launched the Middle Neighborhood Initiative. Through the Clean & Green Campaign, WPKND was able to assist the parish in finding the needed support to install a new fence around the cemetery this summer.

This project is a great reminder that our work requires patience for the right pieces of the puzzle to come together and that through partnerships like these we can bring positive improvements to our community.

We're one week away from our final Pop Up in the Park of the summer! Join us Friday, September 4th at Davinwood Park from 5:30-7:30pm for arts activities, games, inflatables, make and take crafts, and more. Featured partners include the Cleveland Museum of Art-Studio Go, Linda Zolten-Wood with crafts made from upcycled materials, and the Great Lakes Science Center with a fun science activity.

Last week, WPKND and the project partners for the Old Lorain Connector Trail officially cut the ribbon on the new path linking the Kamm’s Corners neighborhood to the Rocky River Reservation!

The Old Lorain Connector Trail is a 0.3 mile recreational trial that begins at the intersection of Riveredge Road and Bradgate Avenue. The trail snakes its way down the hillside where it eventually connects to the thirty-three mile stretch of the Emerald Necklace Trail near Little Met Golf Course.

West Park Kamm’s Neighborhood Development staff and Board of Directors would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all the partners who helped to make the Old Lorain Connector Trail a reality. It was a pleasure to partner on a project that better connects Kamm’s Corners residents to one of the neighborhood’s greatest natural assets.

The list of folks who helped get this project across the finish line is long but includes Cleveland City Councilman Charles Slife, Cuyahoga County Councilman Dale Miller, Brian Zimmerman and the whole team at Cleveland Metroparks, Dr. Neil Smith and Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, Community West Foundation, Michael Baker International, and NERONE & SONS, INC.
