Behind one resident who uses a ventilator is a team whose work reaches far beyond the bedside.

Depending on the resident’s needs, that team can include:

🩺 Pulmonary providers
🩺 Primary medical providers
🫁 Respiratory therapists
💊 Nurses
🤝 Nursing assistants
🚶 Physical therapists
👐 Occupational therapists
🗣️ Speech-language pathologists
🥗 Registered dietitians
🍽️ Dietary and food service staff
💬 Social services
🎨 Activities staff
🧹 Housekeeping
🧺 Laundry
🔧 Maintenance

That’s 15 different roles—and across shifts, there can be several people filling each one.

Some manage breathing and medical needs. Others support movement, communication, nutrition, comfort, meaningful activities, and the daily work that keeps the building running.

At Larchwood Care, our respiratory therapists provide coverage around the clock as part of that larger team.

Behind the ventilator is a person with a life, preferences, relationships, and goals. It takes many people working together to support that whole person. 💚

At Larchwood Care, our respiratory residents are primarily together on one specialized unit—meaning less running around and more time focused on what RTs actually love doing: respiratory care.
