As we get ready to welcome students back to the classroom tomorrow, I want to wish all of our students, teachers, administrators, support staff, and families in Southeast Delco, William Penn, and Upper Darby a wonderful first day of school and a successful start to the new school year! 📚🍎

As someone who is deeply passionate about education, I know how important our public schools are to the strength and future of our communities. I am incredibly grateful for the educators and school staff who show up every day to support, encourage, challenge, and inspire our children.

To our teachers and school staff: thank you for everything you do. Your work matters, and you deserve our support, respect, and investment.

As your State Representative, I remain committed to advocating for our students, supporting our educators, and making sure our schools have the resources they need to give every child the opportunity to succeed.

I'm partnering with Penn Medicine to host a free mammogram screening event on Friday, October 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clifton Heights Borough Building (30 S. Springfield Road, Clifton Heights).

Please bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and, if applicable, your order for a screening mammogram.

Can you tell I’m excited for the upcoming school year?! 🎉📚🏫 Yesterday afternoon, I had the opportunity to join Clifton Heights Borough Council and other local officials for a sneak peek at the new Clifton Heights Middle School, and I couldn’t be more excited to see this project come to life!

This school holds a special place in my heart. A decade ago, when I was serving as a school board member, I worked on the vision for this new middle school. To now walk through the building and see it preparing to welcome students is incredibly rewarding. It’s a reminder that the work we do today can have an impact on generations of students to come.

The new middle school will also provide much-needed relief from overcrowding at Drexel Hill and Beverly Hills Middle Schools, which will be a tremendous benefit for middle school students, families, and educators throughout the district.

And there was an extra special touch to yesterday’s visit: we learned that a time capsule was placed behind the school’s cornerstone! 🕰️

I absolutely LOVE the idea that today’s students and community leaders are leaving a little piece of this moment for a future generation to discover. I can only imagine what they’ll think when that time capsule is opened decades from now.

I am SO excited to see the doors open and students fill these halls. This is an exciting new chapter for Clifton Heights and for the entire school district, and I can’t wait to see all that happens here! 💙📚

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with Southeast Delco Superintendent Dr. Jeff Ryan and School Board President Mrs. Francesca Barley.

I want to welcome Dr. Ryan to his new role and look forward to working with him as he settles into this important position. We had a productive conversation about the continued need for equitable funding for our public schools, as well as opportunities for my office and the Southeast Delco School District to work together to support students, educators, and families.

Strong schools are the foundation of strong communities, and I’m committed to being a partner and advocate for Southeast Delco.

And while we’re talking about Southeast Delco, a quick reminder: my office is collecting hygiene products through Monday, August 31, to support the Resource Closet at Academy Park High School. Every donation helps make sure students have access to the essentials they need to succeed.
