I’m proud to support HB 1123, Insurance for Cancer Screenings, which has passed both chambers of the Pennsylvania General Assembly! 💗

This legislation would expand access to colorectal cancer screenings by lowering the recommended coverage age from 50 to 45 and eliminating cost-sharing for covered screenings. Early detection saves lives, and everyone deserves access to preventive care without unnecessary financial barriers. 🎗️

I look forward to seeing this important legislation become law!

My staff was proud to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chimes Holcomb Woodlawn in Aldan, celebrating the renovation of apartments that will serve as a residential treatment facility.

As State Representative, I support programs like this that expand access to care, provide supportive living environments, and help individuals work toward greater stability and independence. We must continue investing in these programs and provide additional funding to ensure individuals and families can access the services they need.

Attendees had the opportunity to tour the renovated facility, meet residents, and step inside one of the apartments to learn more about the living environment and services being provided.

Thank you to the dedicated Chimes staff, Delaware County officials, Aldan Borough Council members, and everyone whose hard work and collaboration helped make this project possible. Your commitment to expanding supportive services and strengthening our communities makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve.

In response to federal cybersecurity recommendations has pro-actively taken some digital tools temporarily offline to install security patches. These tools include real-time travel information and alerts normally available on the SEPTA app, our social media channels, and SEPTA.org.

Real-time information for Bus and Metro is currently available through the Google Maps app and the Transit App (Google Maps is free; Transit App is subscription-based but has agreed to remove its paywall today to help SEPTA customers). Real-time details about Regional Rail schedules can be found at station monitors and through announcements.

We are extending hours of customer service until 9PM. Cashiers and passenger services representatives will also be available to assist.

Earlier today federal cybersecurity officials recommended that organizations using PHP—a programming language—immediately install security updates or temporarily take affected services offline until they can be secured. This advice followed the discovery of a new cybersecurity vulnerability that affects PHP and could allow hackers to gain access to systems through the internet.

Certain website functions at SEPTA including those sharing real-time transit information use PHP. SEPTA is repairing these to safely restore their functionality. The PHP programming language is used by many government agencies across the world, and as a result many government websites globally have similarly removed online services and websites.

We will share updates as soon as they are available.

SEPTA Senior Fare Cards: Temporary Service Disruption 🚨💳

SEPTA has temporarily disabled its Senior Fare Card legislative website as part of proactive cybersecurity measures in response to federal recommendations.

SEPTA has taken certain digital tools offline to install security patches. This also affects public access to real-time travel information and alerts on SEPTA.org and the SEPTA app.

At this time, my office is unable to process new SEPTA Senior Fare Cards or renew existing cards.

We understand this may cause inconvenience for our seniors and their families. SEPTA has indicated that updates will be shared as soon as they become available.

Today, October 20, is Disabled Women’s Equal Pay Day, a reminder that women with disabilities continue to face significant barriers to equal pay and economic opportunity. Equal Pay Day was first observed in 1996 to raise awareness of the gender wage gap. Over time, additional observances have highlighted how race, disability, and other factors contribute to unequal pay.

Today, disabled women earn an average of just 56 cents for every dollar earned by nondisabled men when looking at all earners, including those working part time or part year. Even among full-time, year-round workers, the gap persists.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to work, earn a fair wage, and build financial security. That means addressing discrimination, improving workplace accessibility, and ensuring women with disabilities have the same opportunities to succeed.

Equal pay must include everyone. 💰💵
