CRFD gathered to pay tribute to fallen Wildland Firefighter Ruben Gonzales Romero this afternoon as the procession passed through our district on I-90.

Tomorrow, September 1, 2025, a procession for fallen Wildland Firefighter Ruben Gonzales Romero will arrive in Missoula at 2 pm and will be passing through our district at approximately 1:45pm. CRFD will have our engine and tenders on the overpass between 1:30-2 pm. The procession will continue west on I90 through to Spokane. We encourage everyone who is interested to participate and witness this event. If you want to gather to watch the procession, please use frontage roads with good visibility. Please be aware of all traffic laws and safety concerns. Fire trucks, firefighters and law enforcement vehicles will be lining side streets, frontage roads and overpasses as the procession goes by.

Wildland Firefighter Romero died on Sunday, August 24, 2025 while fighting the Bivens Creek Fire in southwest Montana. He dedicated 20 years to the fireline where he worked as a sawyer. We send our deepest condolences to his family, his crew, and the entire wildland firefighting community.
