September 2, 2026 - Earlier today, W.D. Gattis Middle School administrators investigated reports of a possible weapon on campus after rumors circulated among students and on social media. Law enforcement was notified through our district’s School Resource Officer. No weapon was found, and there is no evidence of a threat to the campus at this time. We understand these reports can cause concern, and we appreciate everyone who promptly shared information so it could be addressed.

Officers and staff of the Clovis Police Department are proud to wear purple in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day.

Whether it's answering a difficult call for help or responding to families in a vulnerable moment, our department sees firsthand how substance use and overdose impact our community. Today, we're wearing purple in support of the Curry County Youth Committee and the Curry County Substance Use & Behavioral Health (SUBH) Program's recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, and their work to increase awareness and end overdose across the County.

Congratulations to two of our officers on their new assignments!

We are proud to recognize Officer Farley, who has been promoted from Detective to Sergeant. Sergeant Farley will transfer from our Special Operations Unit to Patrol, where we know his experience and leadership will continue to make a positive impact.

We also congratulate Officer Garcia on her promotion to MPO. In this new assignment, MPO Garcia will be filling an open School Resource Officer (SRO) position with Clovis Municipal Schools, helping strengthen the partnership between our department and the schools, and the relationship between officers and the community we proudly serve.

The Clovis Police Department is looking for food trucks for our annual National Night Out event, to be held this year on October 10th from 2-6 pm on 21st (between Main and Mitchell) and in Greene Acres Park.

This year's event will include emergency vehicle display with vehicles from CPD, CFD, CAFB, State PD, County Sheriffs and departments from Portales, Texico, BNSF Countyline, and more (on 21st St.), vendor and community partner booths (last year included ~40 booths), the debut of the City of Clovis' new performance stage, k9 demos, and the return of the Big Candy Drop.

Food vendor requirements: hold an active business license with the City of Clovis, $50 vendor fee (paid to the City, we do not collect funds), and a health inspection on file within the City of Clovis.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration recognizes August 21st as National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.

Every community in the nation has seen the impact fentanyl has had on its residents, young and old. Fentanyl is capable of killing a person at an exposure level of just 2 milligrams. Imagine, less than a single grain of salt can destroy families and impact so many others. Our community is not immune to this horrible drug. From August 20th of last year to today our emergency medical services and law enforcement have responded to 70 overdoses.

We realize it is difficult, but each of us needs to have hard conversations about fentanyl with the people we care about. If you know someone who is using fentanyl or any other op**te, coordinate with your healthcare provider to have Narcan available for their use or yours. It is not a cure, but it does afford you precious time to get yourself or others medical care.

📢 CHS Students & Guardians:

Last week, Clovis High School shared the message below reminding students and guardians of the importance of parking on campus rather than in the surrounding neighborhoods.

With a new group of novice drivers each year, it’s a message worth repeating. Unfortunately, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in complaints about vehicles blocking driveways and alley access, parking in No Parking Zones, and other violations of basic parking laws. We have also received reports of students trespassing through fenced yards to access campus and driving recklessly through the neighborhoods, putting others at risk of injury.

As a reminder, CHS campus parking permits are FREE and easy to obtain. Please take advantage of the parking permit, park legally and responsibly, and avoid a costly ticket or tow.

⚠️ Important Parking Reminder for Students and Guardians

Dear Students and Guardians,

We want to remind everyone of the importance of parking on the Clovis High School campus rather than in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Beginning soon, local law enforcement will be increasing enforcement in the neighborhoods around campus. Vehicles parked in the neighborhoods may be ticketed and/or towed. Please help us be good neighbors and ensure that students are parking in designated areas on campus.

🚗 Need a Parking Permit?
• Your first parking permit is FREE!
• To receive a parking permit, the student must provide: Student Driver’s License or Provisional License. NO PERMITS — the student must have the required license
•Proof of Insurance — insurance may be under a parent/guardian’s name
•Current Vehicle Registration

⏰ When: Before school or after school

Please take care of your parking permit as soon as possible so you can park on campus and avoid receiving a ticket or having your vehicle towed. The Police Department will begin ticketing and towing vehicles next Wednesday, August 19th.

Clovis, NM – August 17, 2026 – On August 9, 2026, at approximately 11:57 p.m., Clovis Police Department Dispatch received an emergency telephone call regarding a subject with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers and Emergency Medical Services responded to the 500 block of East 9th Street, where they encountered a 30-year-old, African American male in the roadway who had multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen. The injured subject was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Lubbock, Texas hospital. The victim is in stable condition. Clovis Police Department Detectives are investigating this shooting.

The suspect in this shooting has been identified as David Leandrew Delhoyo (34 years of age). There is an active arrest warrant for Delhoyo on the charge of Aggravated Battery (3rd degree felony).

Clovis, NM – August 14, 2026 – On Friday, August 14, 2026, at approximately 12:15 A.M., the Clovis Police Department received a report of a missing adult male. Family members reported that Raul Jimenez, 31, had left the previous afternoon to ride his dirt bike and had not returned home.

The family further reported that they last heard from Raul at approximately 7:00 P.M. Thursday and were concerned for his safety. Officers began attempting to locate Raul throughout the city but were unsuccessful.

Shortly after 6:30 A.M., the Clovis Police Dispatch Center received a call reporting a male down in a vacant lot near the intersection of 8th Street and Ash Street. The caller reported that the male was wearing a helmet, did not appear to be breathing, and that a motorcycle was nearby.

Officers from the Clovis Police Department and Clovis Fire Department Emergency Medical Services responded to the location and located a deceased male. The male was identified as Raul Jimenez, the same individual who had been reported missing earlier that morning.

The Clovis Police Department Major Crash Team was activated and is investigating the incident. The investigation remains active.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone possessing information related to this collision is asked to call the non-emergency line of the Clovis Police Department at 575-769-1921.
