State Support Team 11

SST 11 provides services and technical assistance at no cost to schools and families in Central Ohio.

Ohio uses a tiered system of support—state, regional, district—to create a single unified system that can meaningfully build the capacity of every district to move all children to higher levels of academic achievement. The State Support Team Region 11 (SST 11) is one of Ohio's 16 regional SSTs. Using a connected set of tools to improve instructional practice and student performance on a continuing

basis, SST 11 staff assists districts in the development of a unified system of education. This unified system builds the capacity of every district to move all students, including those with disabilities, to higher levels of performance. The reliance on data to determine appropriate actions of each district is integral to the success of Ohio's system of support. SST 11 works closely with the Ohio Department of Education's Center for School Improvement, Office for Exceptional Children, and the Office of Early Learning and School Readiness. SST 11 provides services and technical assistance to school districts, educational service centers (ESCs), community schools, early childhood centers, and families in 8 central Ohio counties. The focus areas of our work are:

Families.

📊 NEW RESOURCE: Ohio High School Outcomes

What happens to Ohio students after they graduate from high school?

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has launched the Ohio High School Outcomes reports—a new resource designed to help educators and communities better understand students’ post-high school pathways.

The reports follow Ohio high school graduates for six years after graduation and provide information about:

🎓 College enrollment
📚 College completion
💼 Employment
💰 Earnings

Users can explore outcomes at the state, region, district, school, and Career-Technical Planning District (CTPD) levels.

This resource can be especially helpful for districts as they:
✅ Examine postsecondary outcomes
✅ Strengthen graduation and transition planning
✅ Evaluate career pathways and CTE programs
✅ Identify trends and areas for improvement
✅ Benchmark outcomes against similar districts and programs

The reports were developed by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce in partnership with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Education Research Center at The Ohio State University.

Do you know a special educator who goes above and beyond to champion students with disabilities and strengthen special education programming?

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Kathe Shelby Leadership Award, presented by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. The award recognizes an exceptional special educator in Ohio who demonstrates outstanding leadership, knowledge of effective programming and special education law, and a commitment to improving outcomes for students with disabilities.

🏆 Nominees must:
• Have at least 15 years of full-time experience in special education
• Currently work for a district or community school
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership and advocacy for students with disabilities
• Positively influence students, families, educators, related service personnel, and administrators

📚 Building strong readers starts early!

The Ohio Department of Children & Youth has shared helpful resources for families on the Science of Reading and early literacy—including simple ways to build important reading and language skills long before children enter kindergarten.

Talking, singing, rhyming, reading together, playing with sounds, and pointing out letters and words are all everyday activities that help build the foundation for future reading success.

The resources also break down the five pillars of reading:

🧠 Comprehension

Families play such an important role in developing early literacy skills, and many of these strategies can easily become part of everyday routines.

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is now accepting applications and nominations for two statewide workgroups that give Ohio students and families the opportunity to help shape the future of education.

🌟 Ohio Student Voice Workgroup (Grades 8–12)
Students can apply directly or be nominated by an educator or other adult. Participants will collaborate with the Department, provide feedback on important educational topics, and work together to develop solutions that support Ohio’s schools. 📚 Building a Strong Foundation for Literacy at Columbus Arts & Technology Academy

Our Regional Literacy Specialist, James Cutlip, spent Thursday and Friday working with the new teachers at CATA, providing an overview of explicit instruction strategies that support vocabulary, comprehension, and writing across grade levels and content areas.

The goal? Consistency and continuity so students experience effective literacy practices in every classroom, regardless of the subject or grade level.

What a fantastic and enthusiastic group of new educators! Their energy, engagement, and commitment to supporting student learning were inspiring. We’re excited to see the impact they will make at CATA! 👏📖
