Fred was a strong fighter for his beliefs and consistently helped welcome new members to the Republican Party, especially young Republicans across the state. He was a mentor and friend to so many of us, and we are grateful for all he did for New Hampshire, the Republican Party, and those around him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Fred's family and loved ones. He will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace.

Our caucus mourns the loss of the Hon. Fred Doucette

Fred served our caucus faithfully as Assistant and Deputy leader and Speaker Pro Tempore

His impact on our state, our nation, and his community will never be forgotten. We send our condolences to all his friends & loved ones

PRESS RELEASE

NEW HAMPSHIRE YOUNG REPUBLICANS EXECUTIVE BOARD
DECRIES CHANGE TO FIRST-IN-THE-NATION PRIMARY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 24, 2026

Concord, N.H. The New Hampshire Young Republicans are not surprised by the Democratic National Committee’s decision to remove New Hampshire from its traditional first-in-the-nation position on the 2028 presidential primary calendar.

Democrats claim they want diversity, but what they really want is control. They're overturning a century-old tradition and defying New Hampshire law because they prefer a process they can manage and predict. South Carolina delivers them the voters and results they want—no grassroots surprises, no real competition, no messy democracy. This is machine politics, and it exposes the hypocrisy in everything Democrats say about defending democracy.
New Hampshire’s primary allows campaigns with genuine grassroots support to grow and gain momentum. It gives candidates with strong ideas and committed volunteers a meaningful opportunity to compete, rather than leaving Super PACs, national organizations, and political insiders to manufacture support for a small group of candidates favored behind the scenes.
It is particularly fascinating that the DNC, which frequently warns about the influence of big money in politics, would embrace a process that risks strengthening the power of Super PACs and well-funded political elites at the expense of grassroots candidates and voters.
Any change to the primary calendar should respect New Hampshire law, recognize the state’s unique contribution to the nominating process, and preserve the role of retail politics in presidential campaigns.
The New Hampshire Young Republicans stand with New Hampshire voters in supporting the first-in-the-nation primary. We remain committed to preserving a process that promotes accessibility, accountability, genuine grassroots participation, and direct engagement between candidates and the public.

The Merrimack County Young Republicans are proud to host an exciting evening with the next generation of Republican leadership in New Hampshire!

Join us for our Young Republican Candidates for State Representative Forum, where you’ll have the chance to meet six outstanding young Republicans who are stepping up and throwing their hats in the ring for the State House. These candidates represent the energy, values, and vision that will carry the Republican Party forward.

Each candidate will share why they are running, what they hope to accomplish when elected, and answer questions directly from the audience. This is your chance to hear from the future of New Hampshire politics up close and personal.

What to Expect:

-Candidate introductions and personal stories
- Policy priorities and vision for New Hampshire
- Live Q&A with the audience

Whether you’re a lifelong Republican, a first-time voter, or simply curious about the process, this forum is open to all who want to see young conservatives making a difference in our communities.

Admission is free — but donations are warmly encouraged! Your support helps the Merrimack County Young Republicans elect YR candidates in the November General Election and build a stronger Republican bench for years to come.

Come out, show your support, and be part of something bigger. The future of New Hampshire is on the ballot — and it starts here!
