A huge and heartfelt thank-you to the California Fire Foundation for their generous support in securing new PPE and equipment for our firefighting personnel.

With this grant, we will be able to outfit our firefighters with new wildland PPE, as well as acquire additional tools and equipment we previously could not obtain. As technology evolves and communication demands increase, this support allows us to keep pace with modern standards—especially by upgrading our radio communication capabilities.

We are truly grateful for this contribution, which directly strengthens our ability to protect and serve our community.

New Rescue Boat in Service Thanks to Calaveras Community Foundation and Bernadette Canttaneo with The Lakes Treatment Center.

From July 28–31, 2025, Copperopolis Fire Protection District, alongside Calaveras Consolidated Fire District, completed the Open Water Rescue Boat Operator Course.

This training provided both classroom instruction and hands-on exercises designed to build proficiency in open water rescue operations. Fire personnel practiced:
• Navigating buoy courses
• High-speed personnel transfers
• Touch-and-go landings
• Victim and body recovery
• Righting capsized boats
• Dynamic rescuer deployment
• Nighttime operations

Upon completion, participants received both their State Fire Marshall Open Water Rescue Boat Operator and Urban Search and Rescue Boat Operator Certificate.

This course—and the capabilities it provides—were only made possible thanks to the generous support of the Calaveras Community Foundation and The Lakes Treatment Center. Their donation allowed the District to purchase a 14-foot Inmar Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) with a 25hp motor.
The addition of this vessel enhances our all-risk emergency response capacity in Copperopolis and beyond. This resource is now in service and will be available to assist with water rescues anywhere in Calaveras County.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Calaveras Community Foundation and The Lakes Treatment Center for their continued support of our mission to serve and protect the community.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS IN ACTION

CFPD is excited to announce the placement of a 7000 gallon water tanker in the Diamond XX area of Copperopolis generously provided by Recovery Solutions Inc. of Turlock. After being directly impacted by the Aero Fire they saw the need for additional water storage.

Special thanks to Westmark Inc. of Ceres for donating plumbing materials, and to a local San Andreas machine shop for assembling the system.

These partnerships make our community stronger. Thank you!

🚨 Did you know there have already been more than 80 unintentional shootings by children this year? Over 30 lives lost.

Many of these tragedies happen when fi****ms are left in unattended vehicles.

Children are naturally curious.

And vehicles are never safe places to leave them.

A gun left in a glovebox or under a seat can be fatal.

Secure your fi****ms.
Never leave a child unattended.
Let’s prevent the unthinkable.

🔥 It’s Heat Safety Week—a time to raise awareness about the deadliest weather-related threat in the U.S.

Heat kills more people than hurricanes, floods, or tornadoes.

And some of the most vulnerable?
👶 Infants and young children
👵 Older adults
🤰 Pregnant women
🏥 Those with chronic conditions

🚗 NEVER leave a child or pet in a parked car—not even for a minute. A car can become an oven in just 10 minutes, even with windows cracked.
👉 In 2024, 40 children died in hot cars.
👉 Deaths happen as early as April—and as late as December.

✅ Lock your car, even at home
✅ Teach kids that cars are not play areas
✅ Always check the back seat before walking away

Let’s work together to protect the most vulnerable.
