๐Ÿ”ฆ๐Ÿ’ซ Spotlight on Excellence at CES! ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ”ฆ

๐ŸŒŸโšฝ Integrity in Action! โšฝ๐ŸŒŸ
Congratulations to Mrs. Market's Student of the Week, Affton! Affton was nominated by several students this week for showing integrity while playing soccer at recess and for always being willing to help others. What makes this recognition even more special is that his classmates noticed his leadership and wanted him to be recognized for it. Way to lead by example, Affton! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’ก Did you know? Integrity means doing the right thingโ€”even when no one is watching. When our students recognize these qualities in one another, we know we are building a culture of leadership at CES!

๐Ÿง โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ Leader in Me at Work! โœจ๐Ÿ’ชโค๏ธ๐Ÿง
Mrs. Lyonsโ€™s class practiced Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw by exploring the four dimensions of taking care of ourselves: body, mind, heart, and spirit. Students worked in groups to break down each dimension and learn how keeping all four areas strong and balanced helps us be our best selves!

๐Ÿ’ก Did you know? Habit 7 reminds us that taking care of ourselves isnโ€™t just about our bodies. Learning new things, building healthy relationships, finding purpose, and taking time to recharge all help us grow!

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ”Ž Character Detectives at Work! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“–
Mrs. Dickersonโ€™s class has been digging deep into character traits! After reading, comparing, and contrasting three different stories by Kevin Henkes, students chose a character, identified a trait that described that character, and then used an action or event from the story as evidence to support their thinking. Thatโ€™s some serious reading work! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ’ก Did you know? Asking students to support their thinking with evidence from the text helps move them beyond simply giving an answerโ€”they have to explain WHY their answer makes sense!

๐Ÿ”ข๐ŸŽฏ Rounding Up Some Math Skills! โžก๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฏ
Students in Mrs. Marketโ€™s class put their rounding skills to work with rounding mats, number lines, and partner matching! Students practiced rounding numbers to the nearest ten and hundred while working alongside a partner to strengthen their understanding.

๐Ÿ’ก Did you know? Number lines give students a visual way to see which multiple of ten or hundred a number is closest to, helping them understand the WHY behind rounding instead of simply memorizing a rule!

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ We are proud of the learning, leadership, and character happening throughout CESโ€”and especially proud of the teachers who create these meaningful opportunities for our students every day!

โ€ผ๏ธ So many โ€œWOW!โ€ moments happening every day at CES!

Every Student. Every Day. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŒŸ PERFECT ATTENDANCE WEEKLY SHOUT-OUTS! ๐ŸŒŸ
Our CES classrooms are continuing to work hard to hang those Perfect Attendance signs outside their doors! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

And this week, we have some BIG celebrations!
๐Ÿ† Mrs. Allen's Class โ€” PERFECT ATTENDANCE ALL 5 DAYS! ๐Ÿ‘
๐Ÿ† Mrs. Webster's Class โ€” PERFECT ATTENDANCE ALL 5 DAYS! ๐Ÿ‘
๐Ÿ† Mr. Pettit's Class โ€” PERFECT ATTENDANCE ALL 5 DAYS! ๐Ÿ‘
๐Ÿ† Mrs. Jackson's Class โ€” PERFECT ATTENDANCE 11 / 12 DAYS of School! ๐Ÿ‘
โญ Mr. Noble & Mrs. Everett's Classroom โ€” Perfect Attendance 4 out of 5 Days! Sooooo close! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Why are we making such a big deal about attendance? Because being at school matters! Research consistently shows that missing 10% of the school yearโ€”about 18 days, or just 2 days each monthโ€”is considered chronic absenteeism and will negatively affect academic progress.

Every day at CES is filled with learning, practice, conversations, friendships, and experiences that are difficult to recreate when a student misses school.

Way to SHOW UP, CES! ๐Ÿ‘
Every day matters. Every student matters. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

๐ŸŒŸ CHIP CHIP HOORAY for Mrs. Snyderโ€™s Class! ๐Ÿฅ”

Mrs. Snyderโ€™s first graders have been SPUD-tacular when it comes to attendance! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Through our Present Potatoes Attendance Challenge, the class earned a new piece for their Mr. Potato Head each day EVERYONE was at school. After 11 days of PERFECT ATTENDANCE, they had earned the feet, arms, eyes, earsโ€”and everything else they needed to complete their potato - even a ๐Ÿ’ผ! ๐ŸŽ‰

And you know what that means...

๐Ÿฅ” Mrs. Potato Head made a special visit today with a basket full of chips to celebrate!
๐ŸŽ‰ CHIP CHIP HOORAY!

At CES, we are on a mission to improve attendance because EVERY DAY MATTERS. Every day at school is another opportunity to learn, grow, build relationships, and be part of something special. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

We know there will always be days when students truly need to stay home, but when they are healthy and able to be here, WE WANT THEM HERE! ๐Ÿซ

Way to CHIP away at our attendance goal, Mrs. Snyderโ€™s class! ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿˆ ๐Ÿ–คA Pretty Awesome Way to Start a Friday! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿˆ

This morning, members of our Covington High School football team greeted our little Trojans as they arrived at schoolโ€”with smiles, waves, high fives, and, of course, plenty of knuckles! ๐Ÿ‘Š

And let me tell youโ€ฆwe have some STRONG little Trojans! I just hope all of our football players made it back to the high school with their hands still intact after all those enthusiastic high fives! โœ‹๐Ÿคฃ

Watching our CES kids light up as they interacted with our high school friends was such a great way to start our Friday. These are the moments that make being a Trojan so specialโ€”from our littlest Trojans to our biggest! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

All of us at CES want to wish our Trojans GOOD LUCK tonight as they take on the North Vermillion Falcons in their HOME OPENER!

Go Trojans! Weโ€™ll be cheering you on! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿˆ

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ Learning About Our Community Helpers!

Kindergarten is learning about community helpers this week, and who better to learn from than someone who helps take care of our CES family every day?
Our kindergarten students welcomed our very own SRO, Officer Pratt, for a special visit! ๐Ÿš”

Officer Pratt shared what it means to be a School Resource Officer and talked about the many ways he helps keep our students safeโ€”including monitoring our school and campus throughout the day and making sure our building stays safe and secure. He also showed students some of the equipment he uses and answered their questions about his job. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒŸ

Thank you, Officer Pratt, for spending time with our kindergarten friends and, most importantly, for helping keep our students safe each and every day! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿš— Morning Drop-Off Line Reminders ๐Ÿš—

CES families, we need your help keeping our morning car line moving smoothly and safely!

We know many families prefer to stop near Door #3 to drop off, but please continue pulling forward all the way to Door #2 when space is available. Our goal is to get as many cars as possible into the parking lot at one time so we can unload several students and keep the line moving.

If you pull up near Door #2, your child can enter Door #2 and walk through the hallway to their classroom OR walk down the sidewalk to Door #3โ€”whichever works best for them. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A couple of other reminders:

๐ŸŽ‚ Snacks/Birthday Treats: If your child has items they cannot carry independently, please park in the parking lot and walk the items to the front entrance.

๐Ÿ’› Tough Mornings: We all have them! If your child needs a little extra help getting into school that morning, please park and walk them to the front entrance so we can give them the time and support they need without holding up the car line.

Our goal is simple: Fill the parking lot, unload safely, and keep the line moving! ๐Ÿš—โžก๏ธ๐Ÿš—โžก๏ธ

Thank you for helping us make morning drop-off safer and more efficient for everyone! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›
