๐ฆ๐ซ Spotlight on Excellence at CES! ๐ซ๐ฆ
๐โฝ Integrity in Action! โฝ๐
Congratulations to Mrs. Market's Student of the Week, Affton! Affton was nominated by several students this week for showing integrity while playing soccer at recess and for always being willing to help others. What makes this recognition even more special is that his classmates noticed his leadership and wanted him to be recognized for it. Way to lead by example, Affton! ๐๐ค๐
๐ก Did you know? Integrity means doing the right thingโeven when no one is watching. When our students recognize these qualities in one another, we know we are building a culture of leadership at CES!
๐ง โค๏ธ๐ชโจ Leader in Me at Work! โจ๐ชโค๏ธ๐ง
Mrs. Lyonsโs class practiced Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw by exploring the four dimensions of taking care of ourselves: body, mind, heart, and spirit. Students worked in groups to break down each dimension and learn how keeping all four areas strong and balanced helps us be our best selves!
๐ก Did you know? Habit 7 reminds us that taking care of ourselves isnโt just about our bodies. Learning new things, building healthy relationships, finding purpose, and taking time to recharge all help us grow!
๐๐ Character Detectives at Work! โค๏ธ๐
Mrs. Dickersonโs class has been digging deep into character traits! After reading, comparing, and contrasting three different stories by Kevin Henkes, students chose a character, identified a trait that described that character, and then used an action or event from the story as evidence to support their thinking. Thatโs some serious reading work! ๐
๐ก Did you know? Asking students to support their thinking with evidence from the text helps move them beyond simply giving an answerโthey have to explain WHY their answer makes sense!
๐ข๐ฏ Rounding Up Some Math Skills! โก๏ธ๐ฏ
Students in Mrs. Marketโs class put their rounding skills to work with rounding mats, number lines, and partner matching! Students practiced rounding numbers to the nearest ten and hundred while working alongside a partner to strengthen their understanding.
๐ก Did you know? Number lines give students a visual way to see which multiple of ten or hundred a number is closest to, helping them understand the WHY behind rounding instead of simply memorizing a rule!
๐๐๐ We are proud of the learning, leadership, and character happening throughout CESโand especially proud of the teachers who create these meaningful opportunities for our students every day!
โผ๏ธ So many โWOW!โ moments happening every day at CES!
Every Student. Every Day. ๐ค๐
