ENDORSEMENT:

Today, June 22, 2026, members of the Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) convened and voted to endorse Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate in Michigan ahead of the August 4 Primary Election.

Dr. El-Sayed, born on October 31, 1984, is a physician, epidemiologist, public health leader, and progressive Democratic candidate seeking to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate. Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for public health, economic justice, and expanding opportunities for working families.

He previously served as Director of Wayne County’s Department of Health, Human and Veterans Services and as Executive Director of the Detroit Health Department. Dr. El-Sayed is also the host of the nationally recognized podcast America Dissected, where he examines issues related to public health, policy, and social equity.

In 2018, Dr. El-Sayed ran for Governor of Michigan, earning widespread grassroots support across the state and finishing second in the Democratic primary to Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

"AAPAC members expressed confidence in Dr. El-Sayed’s leadership, vision, and commitment to serving all Michigan residents and are proud to endorse his candidacy for the United States Senate." Said Osama Siblani, presidrbg of AAPAC.

“I am honored to earn the support and trust of the Arab-American Political Action Committee. For decades they have worked toward a Michigan where any and all communities have the dignity, liberties, and opportunities that all of us deserve in the richest country in the world. And they understand that only by investing in our communities here rather than sending our money to backstop murder, genocide, apartheid, and war, can we reach that promise. I look forward to working alongside them toward our shared goals of a better America.” Said El Sayed in a statement in response to the endorsement.

BREAKING: Elections.

Today, June 22, 2026, the members of the Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) proudly endorsed Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans for re-election in the Democratic Primary Election on August 4.

Over the past 12 years, Warren Evans has demonstrated exceptional leadership, transforming Wayne County from the brink of financial collapse into one of Michigan’s strongest and most stable counties. Under his stewardship, Wayne County has restored fiscal responsibility, strengthened essential public services, and improved the quality of life for residents across its 43 cities, townships, and villages.

His record speaks for itself: responsible governance, sound financial management, and a steadfast commitment to serving the people of Wayne County.

AAPAC believes Wayne County is stronger, more prosperous, and better positioned for the future because of Warren Evans’ leadership. We urge voters throughout Wayne County to support his re-election and cast their vote for Warren C. Evans on Tuesday, August 4.

Together, let us keep Wayne County moving forward. Executive Warren C. Evans

AAPAC Completes Candidate Interviews Ahead of August Primary Endorsements

The Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC), founded in 1998 and recognized as the oldest and one of the most respected Arab American political organizations in the United States, have concluded their interviews with candidates seeking the organization’s endorsement for the upcoming August Primary Election.

AAPAC’s leadership conducted extensive interviews with candidates running for Governor, the U.S. Congress, the Michigan State Senate, and the Michigan House of Representatives. The interview process provided an opportunity for candidates to present their qualifications, priorities, and positions on issues of importance to the Arab American community and the broader electorate.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, AAPAC members will convene to review and consider endorsement recommendations submitted by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Following discussion, members in good standing will vote on the proposed endorsements, which require a two-thirds majority for approval.

AAPAC’s official list of endorsed candidates for the August Primary Election will be announced shortly after the membership vote.

Following the endorsement process, AAPAC will launch a comprehensive voter outreach and education campaign to inform Arab American voters about its endorsed candidates, encourage civic engagement, and promote strong voter participation in the upcoming election.

For nearly three decades, AAPAC has played a leading role in advancing political engagement within the Arab American community by supporting qualified candidates and encouraging informed participation in the democratic process.

Glad we are able to support such a great and fair leader.

I’m incredibly honored to have the support of the Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) in my campaign for Michigan Attorney General.

This campaign is about building a broad, diverse coalition across our state — and that starts with listening. I’m committed to leading with both empathy and courage: hearing people out, and then making the tough calls when it matters most. That’s how I’ve always led, and it’s how I’ll show up as your next Attorney General.

I’m grateful for this support and look forward to working together to address the issues that matter most to Arab American communities across Michigan.
