Back-to-school health services are coming to you! Join us at the Macon County Health Department on October 1, 2026, from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM for Children’s Health Day!

📍 1221 E. Condit St., Decatur, IL 62521

Bring your child’s shot records, school forms, and insurance card (if you have one), and leave with the forms your school needs!

🏫 WHAT TO EXPECT:

Prism Health will be onsite providing a variety of school and child health services, including:

✅ School & sports physicals
💉 Required school vaccines
🩸 Blood lead risk screening & testing
👀 Vision & hearing screenings
🦷 Dental exam referrals
💚 Mental health check-ins
📏 Growth & nutrition checks
🏠 Help with food & housing resources

Illinois school health records are due October 15. Don’t wait until the last minute—get your child’s records checked and forms completed before the deadline!

Drive-Thru Flu Clinic to be Held

DECATUR, IL – The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) will host a drive-thru flu vaccination clinic for individuals ages 19 and older on Friday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The clinic will be held at the Macon County Health Department, located at 1221 E. Condit St., Decatur, IL 62521.
The clinic will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals ages 19–64 will receive the standard-dose flu vaccine, while adults ages 65 and older will receive the high-dose flu vaccine.

Attendees should:
• Enter from E. Orchard St. and turn left onto N. Lowber St.
• Be 19 years of age or older.
• Bring a photo ID and insurance card or relevant insurance information.
• Wear a short-sleeved shirt for easier access to the upper arm.

Flu Vaccine Options
• Fluzone®: Standard flu vaccine for individuals ages 6 months and older.
• Flublok®: Recombinant, egg-free flu vaccine for adults ages 18 and older.
• Fluzone® High-Dose: A higher-dose flu vaccine designed specifically for adults ages 65 and older.

Getting vaccinated against influenza is an important way to help protect yourself and those around you. MCHD encourages residents to stay up to date with recommended vaccinations and take advantage of this convenient drive-thru clinic.

The Macon County Health Department has you covered!

PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is medicine that helps prevent HIV. When taken as prescribed, PrEP can reduce the risk of getting HIV from s*x by about 99%.

PrEP is for people who do not have HIV and may be exposed to HIV through s*x or injection drug use.

Most insurance plans and state Medicaid programs cover PrEP.

PERIOD POVERTY: the limited or inadequate access to menstrual products or menstrual health education as a result of financial constraints or negative socio-cultural stigmas associated with menstruation.
Across the globe = 500 million/800 million people who menstruate suffer from period poverty.
U.S. = 2/5 adults & = 1/4 students struggle to afford period products.
Of those U.S. students, lower-income (34%) and Hispanic students (52%) are the most affected.
