Deer Isle-Stonington Elementary School The Deer Isle-Stonington Elementary School opened its doors in 2001. The school motto: "It takes a whole community to educate a child".

Today, administration and staff are committed to making this school one of the best in the state of Maine. Public elementary school with 202 students enrolled in grades K-7 serving the students of Deer Isle and Stonington.

Today, as we left school, only 2 chicks had hatched out of the 36 in the incubator! Today is the due date! The students have been patient and attentive and are following all instructions to ensure the safety of the chicks and future hatchlings. I notice a strong sense of compassion and curiosity among them. Parents/Guardians... you are doing a great job!
