The outdoor burn season for Lane County will officially conclude on Sunday, May 31st at 6:00 P.M.

As we transition into warmer and drier conditions, we urge all residents to exercise caution with outdoor burning and prepare their properties for fire season.

It is essential to ensure that all debris burns are fully extinguished and to maintain safe outdoor burning practices throughout the remaining days of the outdoor burn season.

Fire season will be approaching quickly and we want to prepare for a safe summer.

Dexter Fire would like to thank Bi-Mart of Springfield for their generous donation of bottled water. The water will support our responders during emergency calls, wildfire responses and outside training ensuring proper hydration at all times. Having a healthy and well hydrated crew is vital to keeping our community safe, our responders safe and ready for the next calm for service.
This vital support of small rural fire districts is essential for our continued support of our local and regional communities.

Dexter Fire responded to multiple fires along Hwy 58 this afternoon. Crews were able quickly extinguish the fire, start mopping up and creating control lines. When USFS units arrived they were briefed of the situation and continued improving containment lines and extinguishing hot spots.

Thank you OSP and ODOT for providing traffic control, keeping our crews safe. And thank you to USFS for responding and supporting fire response efforts as conditions continue to dry out.
