Where did the time go??? Our LAST Preschool Story-time of the season took place on Monday. Our wonderful Ms. Loretta began with a couple songs: The "Good Morning" song and also the classic, "Patty Cake".
Ms. Loretta read the book, "When I Draw a Panda" by Amy June Bates. This delightful book about a young child who likes to draw but who also likes to draw things "her" way, not the way someone else tells her to draw, delivers the message that art is your own. You don't have to follow the rules when it comes to making your own magical creations. And it is still perfect, just the way you make it!
The children spent time outside chalk-drawing a variety of wonderful creations on the library sidewalk. Very Beautiful! Then everyone enjoyed a Hoodsie ice cream as a way to celebrate the end to the Story-time year.
*Preschool Story-time will resume on September 14th. Hope to see you there!

Monday's Story-time theme was about Growing Plants! Ms. Loretta started the hour with the "Good Morning" song and then read the book, "Plant the Tiny Seed" by Christie Matheson. This magical, interactive book invites the young readers to participate in the experience of the planting and growing process . From putting the seed into the ground, and giving it water and sun and protecting the plants (from snails) to when the seeds float away to become new flowers. Such a great book!
For the activity, the children did paintings using paper towel flower stamps. Everyone enjoyed a snack of vegetable and fruit "flowers" and milk. Yum!
Join us for our FINAL Story-time this coming Monday May 18th.
Story-time will resume in September after Labor Day.

Monday's Preschool Story-time was all about Sounds and Noise! Ms. Loretta began the hour singing, the "Good Morning" song and also "You are my Sunshine" (in hopes of bringing more sunny days!)
"The Loud Book," by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by Renata Liwska describes all different kinds of LOUD from Alarm Clock Loud all the way to Crickets Loud. How about a "Deafening Silence" Loud? Or even a "Spilling your marbles in a Library" Loud.? And my personal favorite: "Crackling Campfire" Loud. A Very Fun Book!
"Buzz! Boom! Bang! The Books of Sounds" by Benjamin Gottwald is another Fantastic Book of many pictures where the READER gets to make the noise the picture is showing!
For the activity, the children decorated shaker noise makers and then played around with them. Everyone got into the noise! (Including a little drumming action on the marker container!)
After the noise, everyone enjoyed a snack of tangerines, animal crackers and water.
Join us again on Monday for another fun story-time hour!
