Introducing Peru Selectboard’s new secretary, Katie Marr, whose hire date was August 17, 2026. Her work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (except the first and third Mondays of the month).

Katie graduated from Rumford High School in 2009, and University of Maine Farmington in 2013, with a major in rehab services and a minor in psychology.

Katie enjoys the outdoors, camping and hiking. She and her husband Matt have two boys, ages two-and-a-half years, and five months.

On Monday, August 17, the Peru Select Board presented the Town's 2026 Spirit of America award to Sharlene MacFawn in memory of her husband Warren MacFawn. He volunteered countless hours to the Town of Peru since 1977, and served at different times on the school board, the finance committee, the planning board, and the appeals board.

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., Diano Circo, a State of Maine Inland Fisheries representative, and State Representative Tammy Schmersal of Mexico, will visit the Worthley Pond boat ramp, 255 East Shore Road, to discuss a proposed dock at that site.

The public is invited to attend to learn more about this plan, and to voice any questions or concerns.
