Duncan Valley Rural Fire District The Duncan Valley Rural Fire District has been providing fire and emergency services to Southern Greenlee County since 1974.

Our response area covers approximately 50 square miles around Duncan, AZ. Their response area covers approximately 8 square miles in and around Duncan, Arizona

With the fire chief and 20 volunteers, DVRFD responds to an average of 50 emergency calls per year ranging from structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, and wildfire assignments. The district also provides non-emergency services such as p

ublic fire education and community event standbys. Duncan Fire's volunteers operate out of 2 stations with 3 pumper engines, 2 water tenders ans 2 brush engines. They are trained to combat many types of fires, as well as vehicle extrication, steep-angle rope rescue, swift water rescue, hazardous materials operations, and first aid; some to the EMT and Paramedic levels. Duncan Fire partners with Arizona State Forestry, providing staffing and equipment to both initial and extended attack operations for Arizona wildfires. They also provide support to other fire departments around Southeast Arizona and Southwest New Mexico. A forgotten fact about our firefighters is that this isn't their real job. Each of them already have a career, and volunteer their free time to the community. They risk life and limb to keep others safe.

First Day of EMT School for Captain Trevor Shaw. Throughout the next 4 months, he will complete the necessary training to become a certified EMT.

EMTs or Emergency Medical Technicians are trained in assessing patients, acquiring vital signs, and are able to provide basic life support care for patients, including IV fluids , oxygen therapy, and select medications.

Once certified, EMTs are able to continue their education and become certified as advanced EMTs or Paramedics.

We wish a great semester to Captain Shaw as he embarks on this step in his career.

We want to extend our biggest congratulations to our very own Firefighter Conlan Jensen on graduating from Paramedic School and earning both his Arizona state and national paramedic certifications!

After more than 1,000 hours of demanding training over 12 months, Conlan is now trained to provide advanced emergency medical care, including patient assessment, airway management, cardiac care, medication administration, trauma treatment, and advanced life-support procedures. Paramedics are trained to recognize and treat life-threatening medical conditions and injuries in the field while providing continued care during transport to the hospital.

This is an incredible accomplishment and a major milestone for Firefighter Jensen. We couldn’t be prouder of you, Conlan! Congratulations! 🚑🔥

🌵🤠We will see a downturn in thunderstorm activity today as drier air filters into Southeast Arizona from northern Sonora Mexico.

There should be enough residual moisture in the atmosphere to result in isolated mainly mountain showers and thunderstorms.

The drier air moving into the area in the mid-levels will make any storm that develops capable of producing gusty outflows 40-45 mph. However, these winds will be localized.

Otherwise, some of the storms east of Tucson will still be able to produce brief heavy rainfall, which may be problematic on those areas with saturated soils from rainfall the past few days.
