Good luck to our probationary firefighters as they take their written exam today and complete their physical practical testing on Saturday!

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work they have put in throughout the academy. Between attending class several nights each week, working their day jobs, studying outside of class, and continuing to train with the department, they have shown an outstanding commitment to serving our community.

Please join us in wishing them the best of luck as they take these important next steps. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish and where their fire service careers take them!

Thank you Vernon Twp Fire Department, Michigan for hosting a great live burn training today and for including us. Training opportunities like these help us build skills, strengthen partnerships, and better serve our communities.

Check out the probationary firefighters throughout the county hard at work in the academy. DFD currently has three firefighters in the academy. They’ve been putting in a lot of time, effort, and dedication while learning valuable skills and preparing for the job ahead.

We’re incredibly proud of the work they’ve put in so far and excited to see them finish up soon. Their hard work and commitment are already showing, and we can’t wait to see them continue growing as members of the DFD family. Keep up the great work!

Tomorrow we will lay Mayor Jeff Brands to rest. Prior to going to the cemetery, the Durand Police Department and Durand Fire Department will lead Mayor Brands through the city he loved so dearly.

Everyone is invited to come out and pay their respects along the route. The procession will travel down Oak Street from Lansing Road to turn left at Main Street, then turning left at the clock tower. We expect the procession to arrive in Durand close to 1:00 PM.

Please continue to keep Joan, Cameron, Morgan, Justin, and the entire Brands family in your thoughts and prayers.

The Durand Fire Department would like to send a HUGE congratulations to the Durand Boys Bowling Team on bringing home the State Championship! 🎳💙

We are excited to welcome our champions back into town later today! 🚓🚒 Please be aware there will be a presence of first responders escorting and celebrating the team as they return. If you see lights and sirens, don’t be alarmed, we’re just celebrating with the team!

After all of this weekend’s festivities have finally wrapped up and things have mostly calmed down, we want to take a moment to recognize B Crew — aka the BEST crew 🔥🤙🏽

B Crew has been nominated for Clean-Up Crew of the Year at DFD, and this honor comes from hard work, commitment, teamwork, and yes… a little friendly competition.

This crew has built an incredible bond and takes pride in doing things the right way. As much as they love working together, they also know the importance of sharing that knowledge (and maybe some patience 😄) with our new recruits next year.

Congratulations to B Crew — setting the standard, proving that excellence doesn’t clock out, and simply being the best 🚒
BTW - we love Santa, but he is NOT B Crew. 🤣🫶🏼
