Governor Josh Stein Increases Reward in the Search for Rosa Lee Crabtree’s Killer.

Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead and the Durham County Sheriff’s Office extend our sincere gratitude to Governor Josh Stein for approving an increase in the Governor’s Reward to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder of Ms. Rosa Lee Crabtree.
In November 2005, 68-year-old Ms. Crabtree was tragically taken from her family and community in her Rougemont home after returning from church. Two decades later, our investigators are re-examining evidence with modern forensic science, re-interviewing witnesses, and following every lead to bring answers to her loved ones.
"We are deeply grateful to Governor Stein for granting our request and supporting our ongoing efforts to bring justice to Ms. Rosa Lee's family," said Sheriff Birkhead. "Someone holds the piece of information that can help us solve this case. We hope this significant increase to the reward encourages them to come forward."
