Assemblyman Jared Goecker

Assemblyman Jared Goecker District 2 - Eagle River, Chugiak, JBER Jared first moved to Alaska in 2002 when his father was stationed at JBER with the Air Force.

After graduating with honors from Angelo State University with a degree in Political Science and Communications, he returned to Alaska immediately—committed to building a life and career in the state that shaped him. His extensive public sector experience includes serving as Deputy Director of Human Resources for the Municipality of Anchorage. Previously, as Deputy Director of Labor Relations for

the State of Alaska, he negotiated statewide unions contracts and spearheaded a major modernization of the state’s payroll systems. Since 2024, Jared has worked as the Public Relations Director for the Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center, where he is focused on delivering meaningful results for residents and the local community. Jared is actively involved throughout the local community, serving on the Chugiak-Eagle River Advisory Board as an alternate for his community council, volunteering with the Eagle River Sleeping Lady Lions Club, is active with the District-23 Republican Party, volunteers to do cleanup work on local trails, and serves regularly at a downtown shelter. Above all, he is proud to raise his young son in Eagle River and is committed to ensuring Chugiak-Eagle River remains a vibrant, family-friendly place to live and thrive. Committee Membership:

They tried to hold approximately $600,000 in already-approved police funding hostage to advance their soft-on-crime, sanctuary-city agenda. I wasn’t having it.

Anchorage is experiencing a surge in crime. I and others pushed back, and the $600,000 passed.

Our police deserve our support. Crime victims deserve justice. Public safety should never be held hostage to a political agenda.

Assembly spending accounts aren’t our money.

They’re yours.

Taxpayers have every right to expect transparency and accountability for how their dollars are spent. That’s why we passed AR 2026-253, authorizing a full review of spending by every current Assembly member and the three members who termed out this past April.

This review will help us identify spending trends, examine weaknesses in our existing processes and controls, and give us the information we need to fix any problems we find in our own house.

Accountability starts with us. Thank you Members Baldwin-Day and Silvers for the collaboration and my colleagues for supporting this resolution.

Tonight should be an interesting one:
1️⃣ A resolution from Members Baldwin-Day, Silvers, and I to authorize an investigation into all Assembly member expenses and travel
2️⃣ Funding for aspects of the Real Time Crime Center. The RTCC was already approved last year and went through vigorous public process, this is just a funding component for one of the aspects of the RTCC
3️⃣ AO 2026-108: The soft on crime bill that bars APD from investigating misdemeanor offenses with existing consitutionally sound technology and from sharing information with Immigration Enforcement.

You are being gaslit about surveillance cameras in Anchorage to justify a soft-on-crime proposal with sanctuary-city provisions masquerading as a “privacy rights” ordinance. We do not have flock or flock like cameras. And no one is proposing that we get them.

I take privacy rights seriously. So does our Constitution. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, and Alaska’s Constitution goes even further by explicitly recognizing our right to privacy.

Protecting privacy doesn’t require tying APD’s hands from investigating crimes or enforcing the law.

I’ve attached the proposed ordinance and a link to APD Chief Sean Case’s full work session on surveillance technology in the comments so you can review both for yourself.

Alaska’s crime numbers are heading the wrong direction…and Anchorage is driving the increase.

Our police officers are doing the work. It’s time policymakers stop making that work harder. And on that last point…stay tuned

Great to celebrate the grand opening of the Alaska Friendship Circle’s new inclusive outdoor play center and glad to have Noah along with me for the evening!

This is Alaska’s first Friendship Circle, creating a space where young children of all abilities can play, explore and build friendships together.

Thank you to Rabbi Yosef and Esty Greenberg and everyone who helped make this project a reality. Excited to see their vision continue with plans for even more!
