*****WE ARE SOLD OUT!!!*****

After a massive demand, we have sold out of the Azorean patch in less than 24 hours! We have placed another order with the patch company and will advise the public via social media when they become available.

Several years ago the East Providence Police Department released a Portuguese Heritage patch. Needless to say, it was highly sought after! This year, with assistance from Captain Pacheco, the department has unveiled the Azorean Heritage patch. Coinciding with the upcoming Day of Portugal festivities and local feast season, this patch represents a large portion of our Portuguese officers and community members.

A limited number of patches will be available at the police station lobby, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Maximum 5 per person.

Patches are $10 each. Cash only please. Proceeds will go towards a local nonprofit that serves the Portuguese American community.

Also available is our "classic" Portuguese patch.

A great show of support from Bristol to East Providence for the East Bay leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Rhode Island. The 15 mile trek along the East Bay included police fire participants that ran and biked the route along side several Olympians. The East Providence Police and East Providence Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency has always been a big supporter of the Torch Run and look forward to the future events. Thanks to all the East Providence officers who ran and biked along the way!

Earlier this month, the East Providence Police Department participated in "May Day: Answer the Call to Care" along with other departments across the city. The initiative served nearly 172 individuals who normally would not have received information if not for this effort.

Our officers provided information on resources and distributed items to help make homes in our community a little bit safer. Officers also received compliments and thanks days later from individuals who learned about some of the available services and took steps to receive assistance.

We will continue to make our community safe through education and awareness!

Take a look at some of the numbers of folks served across the city.
