Providence Animal Rescue League needs help with Miss Snort! she needs palate surgery so she can breathe easier! how can you say no to that face!

🐾 Missy Snort Snort Needs Surgery! 🐾

Missy Snort Snort has been a resident at PARL since mid-February, 2026. She has the cutest face, and the best disposition. But, Snort also has something called Brachycephalic Airway Disease—she was born with an elongated soft palate (the roof of her mouth), making it hard for her to breathe. She needs surgery. The estimated cost is $6,000.

We're calling on our wonderful community today to help Snort get the surgery she needs to breathe and live without discomfort. Any money given beyond the required $6,000 will go towards our Betsy's Fund, which is our emergency funds for moments like this—moments where animals need our help the most. Please, give today to help Missy Snort Snort! To learn more about Snort's journey and to donate, please visit donate.parl.org/snort.

Reminder!

☀️🐾 Friends don’t make friends wait in a hot car. Even on mild days, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise dangerously fast and become deadly for pets in minutes.

At East Providence Animal Control, we use infrared thermometers to safely check vehicle temperatures and help protect animals from heat-related emergencies.

If you see a dog left in a hot car, contact your local animal control right away. Together we can keep our furry friends safe this summer. ❤️

Today, we honor the brave military animals who served alongside their handlers with unwavering loyalty, courage, and sacrifice. From K9 units to horses, dolphins, and messenger pigeons, these heroes carried out missions, protected lives, and stood beside our troops in the most difficult moments.

On this Memorial Day, we remember not only the fallen service members, but also the extraordinary animals who answered the call of duty without hesitation — and the handlers who trusted, trained, and loved them. Their bond was built on service, sacrifice, and devotion. 🐾

Most people don't know that released balloons travel miles before breaking apart — and the fragments land where wildlife finds them.

Latex looks like jellyfish to sea turtles. Ribbon tangles around nesting birds. Mylar never breaks down.

The intention behind a balloon release is real. The alternatives carry the same meaning without the landing.

🌿 Five ways to mark the moment:

- Blow bubbles — they catch the same light and vanish without a trace
- Plant a native tree or wildflower patch in their name
- Float luminaries on water — visible, beautiful, temporary
- Write messages on plantable seed paper — bury it, wildflowers grow
- Donate to a wildlife rehabilitation center in their name

The gesture doesn't have to cost a life to mean something 🌿
