Since taking office, my administration has made it a priority to invest in initiatives that prepare our City for the realities of climate change. That's why today's signing of the City's first-ever Green Revolving Fund is such an important milestone for Providence.

Through this fund, we will be able to advance key energy improvement projects that not only help the City operate more efficiently but also will save taxpayer dollars.

Today marks the final scheduled delivery of trash + recycling carts delivered to our Providence neighbors! Our DPW team has been hard at work over the past few months, and thanks to their dedication, they were able to complete deliveries ahead of schedule. ♻️

If you still have old carts, haven’t received carts or need any other assistance, please report it to PVD311 or visit providenceri.gov/carts

Continuing to celebrate Rhode Island Clean Energy Week, it's time to highlight a foundational step forward in our City's sustainability initiatives! 🏢🌎

In March 2024, Mayor Smiley signed into law the Energy Efficiency and Carbon Neutral Goals for Municipal Buildings Ordinance. With a focus on efficiency, electrification and the procurement of green power, the City will systematically decarbonize its building stock and gives the City the ability to plan towards carbon neutrality by 2040 for all municipal buildings!
